The Crisis Project was named after the interpretation of the definitions of the word Crisis:

“A stage in a sequence of events at which the trend of all future events, esp. for better or for worse, is determined; turning point “

“A condition of instability, or danger, as in a social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to decisive change.”

“A dramatic emotional or circumstantial upheaval in a person’s or people’s existence.”

The goal of The Crisis Project is to alter people’s perception of ‘the suburbs’, while both encouraging artists to use the public space as their canvass, and to create a sense of fear within the affected communities for those who don’t understand.

The Suburbs have the undeniable connotation of: “white picket fences, and safe community living for all.” Those who live here by choice do so to: either escape the negative aspects of city dwelling, or to move out of the country in search of a more connected lifestyle. Those who are born here, who grow up in ‘Suburbia’ don’t see their surroundings as an escape, but as a prison of town parks and strip malls.

Excluding illuminated store signs and the odd billboard, the suburbs are devoid of any visual stimulation, exactly what property owners want, and expect. But this existence, compounded with the many destructive aspects of the suburban youth lifestyle, only intensifies the angst against the powers that be, by starving creativity.

The Crisis Project is the initial attack on the habituated suburban lifestyle, which hopes to both bring together suburban youth to inspire art and creativity, and to initiate the waves of change against the clean walls, and municipal supremacy.

these fellas fly through the house regularly. i have suspected they hang from the ceiling for a while in my book room due to the droppings i find. tonight i looked in there and found 2 hanging in there and within minutes there was a third. i was too tired to really get some better photos and my other half helped holding the torch. perhaps next time.

i love them. notice it is different to bat 2.

Rosemary recaptured our penguin.

A former colleague, John who is now in Canada, brought this in some time ago. The team on the floor above us kidnapped him a few weeks ago. Today Rosemary recaptured him and put him on guard by the Christmas tree.

This morning Jae and I and some Momentum members 'picked our own' lavender at a farm in the Wairarapa. It was a gloriously sunny day, almost too hot.

After the lavender we had lunch at Lone Star then went to Mount Bruce to see the white kiwi.

In the evening three of us went to the concert at the Wellington Botanic Gardens.

Aiden just got out of bed, but he really wants to go outside. Unfortunately, it's a little cold to go out in just a hat and a scarf!

The last day lights painting the Mont Blanc mountains... A beautiful sight from Chamonix.

Marvin always tries to get in front of the camera while I'm taking photos. This time he was successful..

Following a "Me-March" challenge on 365project.org. Today's theme is "Something I like to listen to..."

I like listening to the sounds of my neighbourhood coming back to life in the spring. The sounds of children playing, birds chirping and people sitting out on their balconies chatting. We are so deprived of sunshine during the winter that it makes these signs of spring even more sweet.

This afternoon it was 16 degrees in Rotterdam. I went for a nice walk with my dogs and then sat on my balcony and just soaked it all in. It was utter bliss...

9/5/14 - I went to the Michigan volleyball game tonight against Duke. You know it is going to be an interesting night when the announcer says to stay where you are if the power goes off due to inclement weather. It did not go off, but it looked like there were some bad storms that were happening outside. Luckily, Michigan was taking care of business indoors.

vintage vinyls... hearts garland (the style school project, sooo much fun!) and tissu pompoms! i love to decorate, for any reason!

A coffee cart has opened at the car repair place down by Linden railway station. I'm not sure how much passing trade they will get as this is, I think, a fairly quiet street, busy with foot traffic only at rush hour when people are heading to the station to work or away from the station home from work. A café specialising in (refined) sugar-free goods, but also selling coffee, opened a few days ago less than a hundred metres away from here, on the other side of the railway crossing.

They made this look really pretty though.

Jamaica has the most churches per square mile. Among green vegetation and beautiful sky formed as backdrop are these lovely buildings. The Carron Hall United Church, St. Mary, St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Highgate and St. Mary parish Church, Port Maria. These sturdy monuments exhibit strength and beauty that stood the test of time.

I'm sorry for the delay in my project 365. I really should start fresh now. I'm thinking of 52 weeks. Mostly, because my mom says I can only use the laptop on weekends and I try to come on it in school weeks. :O

School is good. I went with my friend to a buffet, and later we went to the mall and my legs are tired. Adding also that I ran the mile yesterday at school really makes me exausted. Ehh... and I have the cold :(

But I will feel better, I have faith that He is going to cure me. :)

This was the story of our day: mountains of crafty work. We nearly broke our brains with all the thinking we had to do today. First Pookie started cutting into both of our Rouenneries stockpiles because we both wanted to nibble on our new projects. Then she folded the mountain of half-yard cuts she has in her stash. Then we both puzzled over how to cut the Be Merry flannel for Schnookie's pillowcases. Then Pookie worked more on the Rouennieres while Schnookie proved once again that machine-sewing a sack is way harder than she can really handle. Then we tackled the inner borders for Schnookie's Christmas Meow quilt, which is, like, the world's slowest quilt EVER. We even had to get a calculator out. And then there was binding to be done on Pookie's Sheri Berry Christmas quilts. Whew! Exhausting!

Z-boy and a friend did their project on Roman armor - some research, some hands-on construction.
