Timings meant a slightly short walk today, and that often means a quick burn through the woods.
A classic autumnal scene was there to greet us, so it got snapped. :)
It's now complete..............well as far as I am concerned. It still looks a bit sterile in places, but I think I will call it a day. Question to myself, do I attempt to recreate the same place in the late 70s ?..........answer, probably not.

This is a scale replica of a Project Fire wind-tunnel model. The different layers of heat shield were designed to come off during test, so that more than one type of material could be evaluated

This nest is small, no more than 3-4 inches across. I walked within a few feet of it and never saw it while the leaves were on the trees last summer. The nest builder wasn't opposed to a bit of man-made material.
Now that the inside of the house is 95% done, we've been working on the outside. We did most of the hardscaping and rock last summer but we've done a lot of planting, mulching and cosmetic stuff this summer.

Some days, I'm really not to keen on the way things operate round about these parts. Especially on the other side of the freeway. It's as timeless a story as any. Wait until the last minute to drop everything one us.

Instead of having a figure painting on a wall of patches and graffiti, I decided to go with a cleaner and more simple design. I struggled with fitting in all the concepts but I like the start of this and feel like I could push it a bit further. For my three media I used painting/drawing, digital, found texture.
For over a year now, Elisa and I have been looking out for opportunities to contribute to our Found Shadow Project. Here are some of the results.
We set up these rules for the project:
1. Only 'found' shadows could be entered in the project (nothing is staged!).
2. The object casting the shadow must be out of frame.
3. Only available light, natural or otherwise. may be used.

I know I've been absent on here for a while now. I've been trying my hand at a few other projects and have kindof given myself a break from the photography thing. I just needed some time to step away from it and do some other things.
One of those other things has been learning to sew. It started with a friend of mine wanting to trade knowledge and has bloomed into something I thoroughly enjoy and have started a small business doing. That new business is making fun things for kids - like crowns and capes and other fun things - and can be found HERE [Splendid Play].
I'm starting to accumulate quite the pile of sewing projects and fabric that I've been meaning to get to, and today I wanted to tackle at least one of them. So I grabbed one of the patterns I'd picked up and some cute fabric I'd set aside and got to work.
I've not made anything on my own from a pattern before! In fact, I've only made one other thing from a pattern and that was with Anna's help. But I'm pretty pleased with the results. I did deviate a little from the directions - but they were minor changes in the dress that I just didn't see being necessary.
I can't wait to let Makayla try this one on! I think it's gonna be pretty cute! =) Perhaps I'll grab the camera and take a few shots of her in her new dress if the weather permits later today! If not, then perhaps tomorrow I'll drag her outside in the morning and snap a few shots. =)

Aiden is making horrible faces in the window. We were getting ready to go to the store, and Aiden was already in his coat and shoes, so we weren't too worried when he let himself outside again. When he started pressing his face up against the glass, I snapped a few pictures. This is easily the funniest picture of Aiden that I've ever taken.

This day was great! You know those days when you wake up knowing your going to have a great day? I had one of those, I got up early in the morning and decided to walk to work today. I was so trigger happy with my camera, taking photos left and right. I got so many photos and so many that I wanted to put up today! So going through them, editing was so hard. I got down to about ten photos then knocked that down to about four then final choose this image.
So how did this photo come into being? Well this photo was taken late at night, I was in a great mood so I stayed around town till the sun went down. As I was walking around High street in Auckland I was passing a food stall. I noticed two people ordering food from it. I loved how the stall light up the subjects ordering food, while there surroundings are darkened but the night, the only thing that light up the street was artificial light.
