SJVR power lays over in Fresno off Ventura Street for the weekend. The resident: SJVR #3003, a heavily tagged Tier IV PR30B.

It may be winter, but the Fullerton, California train station is full of green. A southbound Metrolink train led by F125 942 pulls into the station under the numerous palm trees.

Desert Camo painted SD70ACU #7021 lays over in CP's Clover Bar yard. The unit came in to Edmonton on 119 in the early morning, and will likely leave the following evening on 201.

Earlier in the morning, we saw CPKC 148 with CP 7017 solo on the head end and KCS 3912 as Mid DPU before they worked Shoreham. After getting 248 with the Gray Ghost, we went back into St Paul, and saw they had rearranged the power so both units were on the head end, making this neat colorful elephant style duo of EMDs, not a usual sight on intermodals

SOLD! - In the fading light, recently rebuilt NS 4490 leads 16 SD70ACUs on their ride out of town. All have been hasty remarked 'PRLX' and are heading to one of Progress Rail's locomotive storage facilities.

Despite only recently being out-shopped by DB Cargo in its "Celebrating The King's Coronation" special livery, the King's Shed, Class 66, 66023 was already having to lower itself to menial binliner duties.

The Royal Blue locomotive was working 6E16 1849 Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton EFW through Lostock Gralam, as the sun set on the longest day of the year.

After being on the road for business during the last five of seven weeks, I'm slowly getting back to posting and enjoying your photos. Over the next few weeks, I will do what I can to view your streams and catch up with all of you.

Let's start off where most of my trainwatching took place this summer, the wilds of Donner Pass. Here, a fresh SD70AH leads a long, heavy MRVNP (Roseville-North Platte Manifest) through Casa Loma.

Metrolink F125 933 pushes a westbound train out of Claremont towards Los Angeles with a clear signal at CP Cambridge.

My original plan was to chill in Dalton for an hour or two & see whatever comes through as a side trip on the way home from Chattanooga that morning. I pulled into the parking lot by the depot when my friend Brad shared an update that 27W was east of Tallapoosa, GA with EMDX Yellow Slug 7208 in the lead. With that news, I immediately left & started booking it down I-75 towards Atlanta to try & beat it. Thankfully for me, the dispatcher put them in the hole at Temple to let two westbounds through, buying me enough time to get to Austell as he was again going into the hole at Lithia Springs for about 20 minutes to allow the higher priority 226 to slip by them. Upon determining not to try either Austell or Mableton, I went to Bridge since I knew I could get them from either side of the crossing there depending on where the sun was. It just so happened that G98, which is normally G78, was going into the lead for Argos USA right as I got there. I set up to get a few shots of them while I waited for 27W when next thing I know, 27W calls Bridge, allowing me to catch a rather eco-friendly meet as the ECO-set powering G98 was passed by the tier 4 demonstrator unit. The moral of this story... it pays to be at the right place at the right time. 7-10-20

Skies or clear. Not a whiff of smoke in the air. Its a beautiful morning in the community of Applegate. The eastbound MFRNP rolls through the small foothill community. Not a bad leader!

April 27, 2021: NS 995 (Chattanooga, TN-Barnesville, GA) passes the C-Line Junction at CP Green in Silver Creek, GA with a total of 16 SD70M-2 EMD engines being towed to their new owner PRLX (Progress Rail). The train is being lead by NS 1832 (SD70ACC EMD), and note the front logo is missing. The 1832 was involved in a derailment a while back, and the logo has yet to be added after it was repaired.

Freight trains are not as easy to catch on UP's Martinez Subdivision these days. With two westbound intermodals shifted to Altamont, one eastbound eliminated, and one train shifted to an overnight run, freight traffic is now slim to none. Nowadays, when a freight train shows up, you try to catch it in more than one place. After completing it's setout at Ozol yard in Martinez, UP 9908 west passes through Eckley Pier, bound for Oakland.

Here is Aurizon's new 2703 and 2335 leading an empty export grain train west over Yuleba Bridge and trestle.

Well, if you happen to live anywhere near the KCS mainline, be on the lookout for these new Progress Rail leasers. These brand new SD70ACe-T4's were built to get Tier IV credits, and to help entice future purchases. I shot the EMDX 7212 in KCMO on Saturday afternoon, after coming into town from East St. Louis via the old Gateway Western. 10/26/2019

Thanks to a tipper from WR and update from MM, I was able to break away from a previous scheduled family engagement in time to catch Progress Rail (EMDX) SD70ACe-T4 #7205 leading the MKCVN through Sauget, IL in East St. Louis. In a few minutes, the crew will bring the train across Terminal Railroad's Illinois Transfer at Valley Junction and into KCS East St. Louis yard.

Thankfully, 7205 is brighter than other units in this group that have come over from Kansas City; maybe Progress is seeing that they're kept somewhat clean to ensure a sale. This is one of what is slated to be 20 units on lease with KCS, and possibly, an eventual sale.

Almost missed this shot when my 4-yo chickened out at the last minute and asked to be put back in the car.

Only just after being released from the Port Augusta workshops after having works completed after delivery, GWB102 undergoes noise tests on the Crystal Brook to Coonamia double track section at Warnertown on 13-5-19

Aurizons late running 4AD1 intermodal service to Darwin pauses at Mambray Creek on 10-11-22 with GWB101,FQ03 and GM46 behind the crew van as it waits for an opposing train to take the crossing loop before continuing on.

GB Railfreight Class 67, 67023 "Stella" in multi with Class 66, 66305 make for an unusual pairing on the front of 4S57 10:58 Hams Hall to Mossend Euroterminal through Hartford.

67023 was added to the train at Crewe Basford Hall - topping the incumbent 66 on this flow - to get it back north to Scotland for Sleeper duties. The Skip had been at Crewe ETD for a few weeks (since 02/11/2022) for repairs.

Both locos are owned by Beacon Rail and leased to GBRf, however having only recently transferred, they both still carry the (unbranded) liveries of their previous operators.

Class leader CP 7000 has just got a fresh crew and departs on the CN Yale sub seen here over Anderson Creek

It was a "Holy Shit Surprise Sunday" when I got word that this guy was westbound out of Darling this morning. We had come over to Williams yesterday to do the tourist thing at Bearizona and to catch the Grand Canyon Rwy. 4960 for Steam Saturday. We spent the night so I went out for some eastbounders in early light at spots that I'm not normally in until the end of the day. With 4 trains bagged within an hour, it was time to move to the only spot with decent light for a WB at 0800. So here we have NS SD70ACC 1834, originally SD70 2513 and built in 11-1993, leading the QNYCLAC6 over Airport Rd. with a newer Tier4 and Amtrak 45 helping out. It's definitely one of the most unique consists for the Transyawn and if it ain't orange, it's a win.

NS 1068 is finally on the move and ready to climb to the summit of the Sierras. The dispatcher had 1068 cool its heels while two eastbounds trains cleared tunnel 41, the big hole, located at the summit of the Sierra Nevada.

This was almost eight years in the making! I finally had the chance to chase a Canadian Pacific led train. A rebuilt SD70ACU leads an empty Cargill grain train north along the UP Valley Subdivision at Richvale, CA.

Two different flavors of Progress Rail leaser Tier 4 ACes lay around at MAC in Kansas City, MO. They had been on lease to the KCS, but as of the end of the year, the lease went up, and these ended up in storage. What happens to them next is anyone's guess.
