Kids from Phelps Luck Elementary School in Columbia, MD and the Matnas Community Arts Center in Sapir, Israel participated in a year long literacy and cultural arts program. They wrote stories, illustrated them, and performed through an ancient Japanese storytelling technique called Kamishibai. On June 10, 2009 the two groups of kids shared and performed their stories over a live web chat.
On Tuesday, May 19, Little Kids Rock hosted the inaugural Spring Jam event at The Cutting Room in NYC. The concert, which featured Red Baraat, Karikatura, The Post and local 5th grade students from Queens, raised nearly $45,000 to support music education programs in underserved public schools.

Devoxx 2016 - Reactive Programming
Reactive Programming is receiving quite a bit of attention and for good reasons. It's a nice logical next step from functional programming. It takes the concept of function composition and lazy evaluations to the next level. It streamlines handling of many critical issues that are architectural in nature: resilience, scale, responsiveness, and messaging. In this session, we will start with a quick introduction to reactive programming. We will then dive into code examples and learn how to create reactive applications. We'll learn to implement observables, to deal with errors in a graceful manner, learn both synchronous and asynchronous solutions, hot vs. cold observables, and dealing with backpressures.

Our students expanded their knowledge of Python by learning about lists. We started off this morning learning about basic lists but by the afternoon we were making two dimensional lists. They will use what they learned about lists to make a tic-tac-toe game. Our students are very eager to participate which has created an excellent classroom environment.

El Director de la Fundación para los Derechos Humanos en Cuba, Juan Antonio Blanco, ofreció una conferencia de Prensa previa a la apertura de la Exposición de Artistas Pro Derechos Humanos en Cuba.
La Expo-Venta Artistas Pro Derechos Humanos organizada por la Fundación de Derechos Humanos en Cuba se celebrará del 1 al 15 de abril en Cuban Art Club (6267 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33144).
En la conferencia se explicaron los propósitos de este nuevo programa. La primera acción de este proyecto de la FDHC es una expo-venta de obras plásticas que estará abierta al público en esa galerÃa desde el próximo sábado 1 de abril hasta el quince de ese mes. A esta primera actividad del proyecto han contribuido más de 30 creadores con obras cuyas ventas servirán para dar apoyo a varios proyectos de la FDHC. Además de los cubanos y cubanoamericanos, participan también artistas de Perú, Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica y Venezuela. Entre los artistas expositores están Ramón
Unzueta, El Sexto, Claudia Di Paolo, Rolando Paciel, Yovani Bauta, Roxana Brizuela, Zoé Valdés, y Ramon Willians.
La Expo-Venta quedará abierta al público, con entrada gratuita y estacionamiento libre al fondo de la galerÃa, el sábado 1 de abril a las 5 pm. Se ofrecerá un cóctel de apertura a los asistentes de 5 pm a 7:00 pm.
Durante los quince dÃas de exposición, se realizarán también otras actividades culturales, como exhibición de videos y coloquios, relacionados con el tema de los derechos humanos.
