"The 50th anniversary program of the Matsutoyo Kai on November 29th, 2015, at the James Armstrong Theatre in Torrance, will include Japanese traditional and contemporary minyo folk music by approximately 60 students of the Matsutoyo Kai. Their performances will be complemented by Japanese traditional dancers performing in colorful costumes. Several guest artists from Japan will be featured, highlighted by the appearance of special guest singer and recording artist, Shohei Naruse."

About Matsutoyo Sato Sensei: "Matsutoyo Sato studied European music and opera in Japan for 10 years as a child.
At 16, she was formally exposed to Minyo, Sigin, and the Biwa. By age 20, her instructors encouraged her to apprentice under Madame Matsuko Sato, the late Iemoto, or Grand Master of the Sato school in Japan.
Excelling in a variety of traditional music genres, her skill and detrmination allowed her talents to be recognized with performances on both local and national NHK television and radio programs, and various stage performances throughout Japan.
In the United States, she has performed in films such as ” The Karate Kid 2″ and various TV commercials. Disney Land’s “Japanese Festival” also “Little Tokyo Ondo” for Japanese Nisei Week Festival.
Today, Matsutoyo Sato continues to teach and pass on her knowledge, passion and expertise in traditional minyo throughout Northern and Southern California."

Solar PV System Ribbon Cutting
DeBord Family Partnership with energy contractor ARiES Energy is the first to complete a project under the new, "Clean Tennessee Energy grant program" administered by Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
The system is a showcase project that will create environmental benefits while also modeling how solar technologies can enhance historic properties. The installation is an 11.73 kW solar PV project on the rooftop of the 144 West Main Street building in Historic Downtown Morristown.
The Gala, a fundraiser for the programs and exhibitions of the American Food History Project, featured inspiring entertainment and extraordinary food and wine. The highlight of the evening was the inaugural presentation of the Julia Child Award by the Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts. Featured guests at the Gala included: Alton Brown, Marcus Samuelsson, Sara Moulton, and Derek Brown.

Bertha Gómez de Duarte, Presidenta Estatal del Sistema para el Desarrollo
Integral de la Familia (DIF) y el director general del Instituto
Chihuahuense para la Educación de los Adultos (ICHEA), pusieron en marcha
el programa *“Educar a una mujer es educar a una familia”,* estrategia
social para abatir el rezago educativo, con la participación de la mayoría
de las presidentas de los DIF municipales, así como representantes de
diferentes instituciones que trabajan a favor de los derechos de las
mujeres y la familia.
