We didn't know we would be going to the exhibit that day so all we had were cell phone cameras.

NEWPORT, R.I. – International students assigned to the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) are greeted by NWC President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin during a welcome ceremony August 14, 2023. Students from the Naval Command College and Naval Staff College along with their families and sponsors, were welcomed by NWC faculty and staff as they begin their 11-month residential programs in Newport. The programs are designed to build trust, confidence, and cooperation between American and international officers while building enduring friendships and partnerships amongst students and their families. Established in 1884, NWC informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage. If you look closely you can see the bulky Atmospheric Fluid Spectro-Variometer instrument attached to the belly of the Civvie as it comes in for a landing on Captain Jeb's second attempt. The extra drag of the instrument means the Civvie's approach speed needs to be higher than normal, and Jeb's first approach came in too slow.
