Saturday Morning Arts (SMArts) Program Provides Outreach for Education Students at Ohio Northern
Ohio Northern’s art education professor Linda Lehman founded the SMArts program three years ago to benefit Ohio Northern students as well as local elementary students. The program was also designed to connect the University and the departments of art & design and education to the surrounding community.
“There is a strong need in our community to offer art education classes,” explains Prof. Lehman. “With tight budgets, many public schools cut art programs.”
Now, in its fourth year, the SMArts program continues to flourish. Beginning the fourth Saturday in January, 15 teacher candidates from Ohio Northern will implement lesson plans they have created. The 64 participating children will receive an opportunity to learn about art, an often neglected subject in today’s classrooms, while the college students will receive hands-on teaching experience.

Victory Programs' Founder & President Emeritus, Jonathan Scott, retired after 43 years of serving some of the most vulnerable members of the Greater Boston community. During his four decades with Victory Programs, Jonathan oversaw the launch of dozens of innovative programs to address the needs of people in recovery from substance use disorder, people living with HIV/AIDS, and individuals and families facing homelessness. On May 30, hundreds of agency friends, personal friends of Jonathan, current and former staff, and agency alumni gathered to celebrate Jonathan's many successes and wish him well as he starts the next chapter of his life. No dia 28 de novembro, mais uma parceria do Programa Embaixadas de Portas Abertas — iniciativa coordenada pelo Escritório de Assuntos Internacionais do GDF (EAI-DF), com apoio da Secretaria de Educação (SEEDF) e da Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos de Brasília (TCB) — foi consolidada. As duas instituições envolvidas, a Embaixada do Panamá e o Centro de Ensino Fundamental 03 de Taguatinga, se encontraram na unidade escolar para concluir as atividades de intercâmbio iniciadas em 31 de outubro.
