The Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard will present its 2017 Spring Show and Sale May 11-14 in its state-of-the art facility at 224 Western Avenue, Allston, MA.

More than fifty artists will present an extraordinary selection of ceramic work. From functional dinnerware to sculptural masterpieces, this popular exhibition has something for everyone and attracts several thousand visitors each year. It’s the perfect place to find Mother’s Day gifts!
Free cups made by the exhibitors will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis during the Opening Reception on Thursday, May 11 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. The Spring Show and Sale continues Friday through Mother’s Day Sunday, May 12-14, from 10:00 am–7:00 pm.
Gallery 224, the Ceramics Program’s dedicated exhibition space, will feature work by the Program’s Resident Artists as well as Instructors for the Program’s summer course offerings.
A touchstone for the arts within Barry’s Corner, Allston, the Ceramics Program provides a creative studio environment for the Harvard, greater Boston, and international communities. Courses of all levels are offered over three terms a year. Recognized internationally for its leadership in the field, the Ceramics Program hosts lectures, master classes, symposia and demonstrations by visiting artists, curators and scholars from all over the world.
The Ceramics Program studio is wheelchair accessible.

Victory Programs' 2017 Dinnerfest RED Party + Auction was one for the record books with a celebrity-style step and repeat, returning rock-star auctioneer Kathy Kingston and premium prizes including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to throw the first pitch at PRIDE night at Fenway park that sold for nearly $5,000 after Dinnerfest co-chair Tiffani Faison upped the anti not once, not twice, but three times, sweetening the deal with additional goodies courtesy of her 2nd restaurant, Sweet Cheeks Q which happens to be steps away from Fenway Park, live on stage to motivate bidders! Guest who wore red, the signature color for the event, were entered into a special raffle. The event raised more than $130,000, last year's record and supports Victory Programs' 17 health, housing and prevention programs which serve more than 2,300 men, women and children annually.

“Hoy tengo el honor de graduarme como bachiller gracias al apoyo de Más Familias en Acción, programa que también nos ayuda a ser buenos estudiantes y es un incentivo para salir adelante”.
Este es el testimonio de Karolina Rosario Aguas, quien hace parte del grupo de 382 jóvenes que terminaron su educación secundaria con el apoyo de Más Familias en Acción en Sampués, Sucre, municipio que se destacó a nivel nacional por el cumplimiento de los compromisos en educación que exige el programa por parte de los estudiantes de las 50 instituciones.
Tatyana Orozco de la Cruz, directora de Prosperidad Social, presidió el acto de reconocimiento, en el que se destacó de manera especial a los estudiantes con los mejores resultados de las pruebas Saber 11, dijo que el compromiso compartido de padres, comunidad educativa y la administración municipal, hizo posible que el municipio se destacara a nivel nacional.
“El evento de reconocimiento a los graduandos es de suma importancia para Prosperidad Social, cuando en el país, sólo el 50.9% de los jóvenes entre 16 y 24 años en condición de vulnerabilidad, son bachilleres. Alentamos a los muchachos a seguir su proceso de formación y continuar aprovechando las oportunidades que ofrece el gobierno nacional a través de programas como Ser Pilo Paga y Jóvenes en Acción”, dijo la Directora de Prosperidad Social.
Agregó que el compromiso de los participantes del programa, la administración municipal, la comunidad educativa, así como de los actores del nivel municipal, regional y nacional de Prosperidad Social, fueron el conjunto que permitió mejorar los resultados en el municipio, que tuvo una ampliación de cobertura del 20%. Hoy 5 mil 685 familias y 11 mil 210 niñas, niños y adolescentes están recibiendo los incentivos en educación y salud, con una inversión de $13.800 millones entre 2012 y 2015.
SAMPUÉS ESTRENA VíAS
Posterior a la ceremonia de reconocimiento, la Directora de Prosperidad Social, hizo entrega de la nueva vía pavimentada con la que se beneficiarán cerca de 2 mil habitantes de nueve barrios. Con una inversión cercana a los $1.800 millones, esta vía mejora las condiciones para el tráfico vehicular de la zona, sobre todo para el acceso de productos agropecuarios, que representa el 48,5% de las actividades que realizan los pobladores.
Este proyecto auxilia a una población urbana con un índice de pobreza cercano al 70%, la cual se verá beneficiada por una mayor valorización de sus predios.
La construcción de la vía en concreto rígido favorece a los barrios Gustavo Dájer, 7 de Agosto, San José, Zona Artesanal, 12 de Octubre, 4 Vientos, Las Acacias, Sampuma y Millán Vargas. / Dic. 04, 2015. (Fotografía Oficial Prosperidad Social / Emilio Aparicio Rodríguez).
