8-year-old Armanie, a 3rd grader at Glen Iris Elementary School, holds up a shape she made as part of "Don’t Get Puzzled with Engineer BHM," a new Birmingham Public Library STEM program that debuted September 30 at the Titusville Branch Library. Participating students from grades 3 through 12 will learn basic skills related to engineering and 3D printing through creating 3D objects/puzzles, and learn basic concepts found in geometry and design thinking, such as spatial reasoning, dimensions, turning 2D planes to 3D, and prototyping designs.
Engineer BHM is sponsored by Infosys Foundation USA’s 2021 Infy Maker Award. BPL received $10,000 grant in June to teach young people skills in electrical engineering, coding and other STEM areas.

Blue Sky Fund Explorers at York River State Park
Richmond's George Mason Elementary school at York River State Park. Trip handled and funded by Blue Sky Fund, a non-profit that works with the 8 most financially challenged schools in Richmond to get the kids out learning about Virginia nature, hand-on!
They learned river/estuary ecology, and the geology of Virginia's fossils in the park.
They just fund and carry out field trips for the urban kids that might not otherwise ever lay eyes on an osprey or crab.
