La Oficina de Cooperación en Defensa (ODC) de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos organizó una recepción para reconocer a los 61 uruguayos graduados del International Military Education and Training Program del año 2019.
Este récord en el número de graduados fue posible gracias a la participación sobresaliente de Uruguay en años anteriores, lo que permitió obtener recursos extra del Departamento de Defensa de los Estados Unidos para este último año, que alcanzaron los US$ 1.1 millones.
El Embajador George recibió a los graduados y altos mandos de las Fuerzas Armadas de Uruguay en su Residencia Oficial y tuvo oportunidad de conversar con ellos personalmente.
Los estudiantes son graduados de cursos en Colegios de Guerra, cursos técnicos de Aviación y cursos de Liderazgo y Desarrollo Profesional. 22 de ellos graduados de la Inter-American Air Force Academy (IAFA).

Photo Highlights from the 2014 eSMART Summer Enrichment Program. The Enrivonmental Science, Mathematics, and Related Technology Summer Research Program took place on the campus of Voorhees College from June 2 – June 30, 2014. This intensive summer research experience provided mentoring and research experiences while allowing high school students opportunity to preview college life. On Monday, June 30, 2014, the program ended with a Science Fair and Luncheon. Students displayed their presentations and each group did oral presentations.
The guest speaker for the luncheon was Ms. Natalie Davis Ferguson, chemical engineer and Program Manager for University Relations in the Strategic Development and Technology Partnership group at Savannah River National Laboratory. Ms. Ferguson received her degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburg, where she worked as an engineer intern, counselor and tutor. She is also the first African American woman to receive a “Chem E” degree from Pitt.
Noopur one of the oldest Odishi dance training institute in city (Berhampur) organized a cultural festival to showcase the talent of its students on the 16th of April 2014 at the Ganjam Kala Parishad, Berhampur.
The Armed Services blood Program hosted a 60th Anniversary and National Blood Donor Month Celebration Jan. 25 at the Defense Health Headquarters in Falls Church, Va. PSI had an idea that the more wealthy people in the cities can afford to buy PUR and provide it to their families in the villages where they do not have running water and have to drink contaminated water. So, PSI created a campaign called the “Pick Up a Miracle and Send it Back Home.” They’ve teamed up with the largest retailer in Kenya -- Nakumatt, to run the campaign. The pilot was a success for everyone involved, and now they’ll scale it up and support it with radio ads. It will be interesting to see if Kenyans can cross-subsidize PUR in this way through this Miracle program.
Oakville Middle sixth-grader Anthony Curtin participates in a workbook activity as part of the Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) Program led by St. Louis County Police/School Resource Officer Angie Logaglio. The program teaches students about gangs and bullying and how to appropriately handle conflict situations.
A few months ago there even was a sign on the door of Hamilton Library for the LIS Program area. The interiors of the LIS Program's space are nearly complete, but electricity and fire alarms need to be installed.

En el marco del programa "50 Mil Mejores Casas" de Prosperidad Social, 474 hogares en el departamento de Atlántico, recibieron mejoramientos para sus viviendas que consisten en nuevos baños, cocinas, techos y pisos entre otras.
La entrega de los mejoramientos fue liderada por la directora de Prosperidad Social, Tatyana Orozco de la Cruz, en el municipio de Palmar de Varela – Atlántico, donde tuvo la oportunidad de compartir con un grupo de beneficiarios del programa "50 Mil Mejores Casas", a quienes les señaló que el Gobierno Nacional está comprometido con la superación de la pobreza, mediante acciones concretas como las que hoy están recibiendo los atlanticenses.
Los seis municipios del departamento de Atlántico que fueron priorizados para realizar las intervenciones de infraestructura fueron Palmar de Varela, Candelaria, Repelón, Manatí, Santa Lucía y Campo de la Cruz.
Las intervenciones en los hogares fueron determinadas de acuerdo al diagnóstico que estableció el grupo de infraestructura de Prosperidad Social, en las visitas que realizó previamente a cada uno de los hogares.
En total Prosperidad Social invirtió $4.970 millones en los mejoramientos de las 474 viviendas de Atlántico.
Este programa impacta de manera positiva en la calidad de vida de las familias y fortalece su autoestima, al tener espacios modernos y dignos para desarrollar sus actividades domésticas.
Así mismo, las familias evitarán enfermedades respiratorias al no tener pisos en tierra, por otro lado al tener cocinas en buenas condiciones, habrá espacios adecuados para la preparación de alimentos.
Mejor alimentación en Ponedera
En el municipio de Ponedera 800 personas se reunieron en la Feria Agroalimentaria ReSA Rural, del programa Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutrición de Prosperidad Social, como cierre de la intervención realizada con 2.520 hogares de los municipios de Ponedera, Campo De La Cruz y Santa Lucía.
Esos hogares recibieron acompañamiento para el montaje y establecimiento de huertas en sus viviendas para que dispongan permanentemente de alimentos, disminuyendo sus necesidades alimentarias, y puedan generar excedentes para comercializar en sus municipios y tener ingresos que mejoren su calidad de vida.
Isabel María Manotas fue una de las participantes más activas en todo el proceso: "Antes mi tiempo libre lo dedicaba a los juegos de azar, ahora los dedico a mi huerta por eso tengo una buena cosecha y pude tener ingresos al vender lo que me sobró.
