Kids from Phelps Luck Elementary School in Columbia, MD and the Matnas Community Arts Center in Sapir, Israel participated in a year long literacy and cultural arts program. They wrote stories, illustrated them, and performed through an ancient Japanese storytelling technique called Kamishibai. On June 10, 2009 the two groups of kids shared and performed their stories over a live web chat.

The Seabiscuit program took place on August 2003 at Countryside.
Seabiscuit's former jockey lives locally and he described the world of thoroughbred racing in the 1930s when Seabiscuit was the “all-star” of all time. He shared a scrapbook filled with his racing career highlights and shared many memories. The library was filled to capacity that day.
I worked in fall 2009 with the Greater Austin Fundraising Professionals group (AFP) to promote their main annual fundraising event - Philanthropy Day. I created several printed ads and all the mailing and day-of printed materials for the event.

The 15th GLOBE Annual Meeting was held in Bethesda, Maryland, on July 17 – 22, 2011.
The theme of this year's meeting was "Expanding International Perspectives About Climate." More than 180 teachers, scientists and GLOBE community members from 46 countries (including representatives from 26 U.S. and the District of Columbia) took part in the welcoming events, informative presentations, networking sessions, poster presentations and field studies over the course of the 5-day event.

Wish I could capture more of the reflection on the floor. Unfortunately the audience (kids) in front of me obstructed my camera's view. In fact in some of the shots I had to clone them out. I believe this is one of those shots.

Simons STEM Scholars Program: Lunch & Conversation

The LA County Library’s annual Lunch at the Library program returns, providing free, nutritious meals to kids and teens 18 and under during the summer months.
From June 12 – August 4, fifteen select libraries will be offering lunch on a first come, first served basis from 12 – 1 pm, check the library website for locations. There are no restrictions on family income. Free meals must be eaten at the library. (Mayra Vasquez/ Los Angeles County)
