As many of you may know, my mom had been battling breast cancer for several years. She took ill in September, and I went up to visit. I was glad I did, for I was able to spend just a tad shy of a week with her before she left this earth.
This is the inside of the program I designed using one of my photos for her services.
Since my mom loved my photos and was always happiest receiving homemade things from her 5 children and numerous grandchildren, I was honored to create the memorial pamphlets and slideshow.
I love my mom dearly and she is already greatly missed.
The Serenity Prayer was her favorite....

Brigadier-General (BGen) Nicolas Eldaoud, Commander 5th Canadian Division (5 Cdn Div), visited 36 Canadian Brigade Group (36 CBG) in Halifax, NS, on Thursday evening, 7 May 2015, to witness the
Canadian Army (CA)’s first Army Civilian Engagement (ACE) program. The ACE program, which can be
likened to the Basic Military Qualification course, was developed and recently implemented by the CA
on a trial basis to allow willing civilian participants to experience a 10-week awareness of CA soldiering
skills.
The ACE program will further promote and generate a greater awareness of the CA, and in particular the Primary Reserve, in communities throughout Atlantic Canada, 5 Cdn Div and 36 CBG have implemented the trial ACE, with a view towards developing a permanent program that can be utilized throughout the
Divisional Area of Responsibility. Upon successful completion of the trial, candidates are expected to be able to speak knowledgeably to their peers and members of their communities about the CA, and will be offered an opportunity to enrol into the Primary Reserve if they so desire.

The different spaces (world, eye, view ,etc etc) were doing my head in, but I got it working in the end, everything is in local space, which means.. something, but it looks the same as what I knocked up in RenderMonkey, so I'm happy.
It needs good normals, otherwise the reflections look a bit too wonky (not in a good way), but I plan on using it on a manually/programmatically generated object, so I'll just make sure I do.
Now I just have to convert it to HLSL as Ogre seems to run DirectX quite a bit faster than OpenGL.
Never though I'd be touching any of the DirectX pipeline, but as long as it is just a shader or two it should be quick to get up and running on OpenGL again.
Okay, so perhaps not the original as that was three wooden sheds, but this is the first functional large train station in Toronto (I think I have this right) Located at Front and Simcoe, Toronto’s first Union Station was built by the Grand Trunk Railway in 1858. It was a handsome structure, with three towers dominating the building and the centre tower (also the tallest) bearing a clock. The main entrance and façade faced the harbour rather than the city, underscoring the continued importance of boat travel on Lake Ontario.
In 1892, the railways agreed to expand the station through an extensive rebuilding program with the most distinctive feature of the redevelopment, a new 7-story office building on Front Street, built of red brick and Credit Valley stone. That is the image up front on the card which would have been Front Street. This was designed in the Romanesque style by the Toronto architectural firm of Strickland & Symons.
This card was printed by The International Stationery Co of Picton Ontario and was sent to Norland Ontario. The stamp is tied to the card with a barrel cancel and a Minden CDS dated 1917. Great sepia-toned card to add to your Toronto collection.
From December 26-28, 1938 (if the written notation on the cover is accurate).

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Emergency management experts Mike Sprague (middle), Joseph D. Plummer (middle right) and Christopher Taylor (far right) field questions during a session of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program at the Dulles State Office Building here on June 26, 2014. New York National Guard troops gave disaster and emergency training to about 158 people who attended the event. The program is designed to give citizens the knowledge and tools to prepare for emergencies and disasters, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. New York National Guard troops, working with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and local emergency management personnel will conduct future training sessions with the goal of teaching approximately 100,000 New Yorkers during 2014. Sprague is a regional director of the New York State Office of Emergency Management, Plummer is the director of Jefferson County Fire & Emergency Management, and Taylor is a fire protection specialist from the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
