This was likely someone's prized possession. Today, it lies broken, staring out through a shattered window and across the prairie.
The School of Education and Human Performance held its first annual Beginning Teacher Support Program on June 15th, a program designed to connect with and provide support to recent graduates within their first three years of classroom teaching. Sessions that focused on Surviving the First Year of Teaching and Integrating Technology into the Common Core Curriculum were offered as professional development. Over 20 students attended the event. Future events are being planned for Homecoming and Spring 2013.
Of particular interest: The Beginning Teacher Survival Guide session offers new teachers a variety of helpful hints, resources, suggestions, and strategies to tackle the ever changing classroom environment. Topics include data driven decision making, Common Core Standards, infusing technology, problem based learning, writing grants to support instruction, classroom management, Professional Learning Communities, and parent/community relations. A Beginning Teacher Survival Guide wiki-space provides participants with an assortment of ready to use lesson ideas to begin the new school year with an interactive and energized approach. Additional review games ideas and resources are also included in the wiki-space to facilitate review sessions for beginning teachers while keeping students actively engaged and focused on learning targets regardless of the grade level or subject area.
Finally getting around to figuring out all the cool features of this watch. I programmed the C25K program in to it.. It beeps and vibrates to signal what to do and when to do it. And then it records how well I did. (complete with heart rate, speed, cadence, elevation etc..) and then it puts it on the web!
The European University Cyprus Orientation Program is designed to welcome new students to the University community, facilitating the process of settling into a new and unfamiliar environment. Orientation days are organized every semester, two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. Faculty and staff are on hand to show students around campus, advise on University policies and regulations, and discuss the selection of courses.
Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard:
Kyle Johns' playful works involve the precision found in high quality mold making and slip casting, while embracing the spontaneity of a keyless mold system. Unlike the repetition of industry’s use of slip casting, Kyle's molds are interchangeable allowing for each piece to be one of a kind. His technique of applying colored slip to plaster molds then binding them together for casting larger objects is a performance in itself. Participants will be encouraged to try their hand at layering colored casting slip onto plaster bats. This workshop is one in a series of three sessions in February with Ceramics Program 2019-20 Artists In Residence.
Artist Bio: Kyle Johns found his passion for working with clay at Oakton Community College. Kyle then transferred to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) where he began studying under Paul Dresang and Matt Wilt. Following undergraduate, Kyle received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University, studying with Brad Schwieger, Tom Bartel, Alex Hibbitt, and Chuck Mcweeny. While at Ohio University, Kyle participated in a six week residency at The International Ceramics Center in Kecskemet, Hungary. Kyle also was a studio assistant at Arrowmont School for the Arts and Crafts, returning several times as a workshop assistant. Kyle has been a resident at both Red Lodge Clay Center and the Archie Bray Foundation.

Metro’s ADA Services team offers a very special Travel Training Program. It teaches individuals who qualify for reduced fares or ADA paratransit services, how to ride MetroBus and MetroLink independently. We tagged along with veteran Metro trainer and former MetroBus operator John McKenney as he helped Metro rider Jim learn a new route during travel training.

After some time off this series for other work and travel, I spent the week chipping away at this second large sketch to be translated as a vector art piece.
It is now well over six feet high and becoming cumbersome to photograph.

This is using a very simple iterative approach, one of the many methods described here:
freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/models/m_ik2.htm
The downside is that movement is pretty robotic and not in a good way. Does the job though, but I'm trying a few more things.
It looks a bit extra robotic as it obeys rotational constraints on the joints and the approach I am using here will sometimes not immediately find a better solution for the joints if the solution is "far away".
