The European University Cyprus Orientation Program is designed to welcome new students to the University community, facilitating the process of settling into a new and unfamiliar environment. Orientation days are organized every semester, two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. Faculty and staff are on hand to show students around campus, advise on University policies and regulations, and discuss the selection of courses.
La Iglesia románica de Sant Martí acogió el acto de la presentación del cartel de la Semana Santa de Lleida, la presentación fue a cargo del concejal de barrio y Teniente de Alcalde, Josep Presseguer, que hizo un pregón muy emotivo con recuerdos de juventud y las sensaciones e impresiones que se viven en la Semana Santa.
Contó también con la presencia del Hermano Mayor de la Cofradía del Cristo de la Agonía, José Manuel Gómez al cual le hizo entrega de la medalla de la Hermandad, bendecida por el Director Espiritual, Mn. Vicenç Alfonso. En la presentación también participaron el viceprior de la Congregación de la Sangre, Jaume Salvadó y la presidenta de la Asociación Cultural de la Sagrada Familia y San Cristobal (Pas de la Somereta) Carme La-Rosa, excusó su presencia el Prior de la Congregación de los Dolores, Fernando Gracia por motivos de salud.
Por primera vez en Lleida, estas cuatro cofradías y congregaciones que son las que organizan las procesiones de Lleida han editado un cartel conjunto de la Semana Santa en Lleida, asi como un triptico con el programa de actos de cuaresma y Semana Santa en la ciudad de Lleida.
El acto contó con el espectacular concierto de la Banda de Cornetas y Tambores Virgen del Pilar de Zaragoza que con sus 46 componentes, ofrecieron un repertorio de marchas procesionales de Semana Santa que hizo las delicias de todos los que abarrotaban la Iglesia románica de Sant Martí.
Asistieron entre otros numerosos cofrades de las cofradías de la ciudad, así como el Capitán de la escuadra de romanos de la Congregación de la Sangre, Pau Garcia, el presidente de las Casas Regionales de Lleida, Cosme Garcia, el presidente de la Casa de Aragón, Jesus Monter, el Hermano Mayor de la Cofradía de la Columna, Victor Anadón, el presidente de la Asociación de Vecinos Jaume I, Jaume Millas y también el primer mantenedor del cartel que se celebró en el año 2008, Jordi Curcó.

After some time off this series for other work and travel, I spent the week chipping away at this second large sketch to be translated as a vector art piece.
It is now well over six feet high and becoming cumbersome to photograph.
Maybe a desert landscape...Lots to learn on this program, but anyone that loves Linework as much as I will love it...Endless possibilities with brush sizes and colors...Amazing time waster!! A LOT OF FUN!!!!!

The Minuteman Program
A product of the Cold War and the developing strategy of nuclear deterrence, the U.S. Air Force's Minuteman program started in 1962 with the LGM 30 Minuteman I. This weapon system was the United States first land-based Intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) to use solid fuel rather than liquid, allowing it to be launch-ready at all times-much like the legendary minutemen of the Revolutionary War. Immediate strike capability permitted the United States to execute a counterattack in the event of a nuclear strike.
Since its Introduction, the Minuteman has undergone several updates, with the Minuteman III in use today as the country's only land-based ICBM. At each stage of the Minuteman's life, Hill Air Force Base has been and continues to be a part of the production, management, maintenance, and overhaul of this platform. Listed below are some of the major Minuteman III support missions that exist on HilI AFB:
Minuteman III Systems Directorate, formerly the ICBM Systems Directorate and assigned to the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, is responsible for "cradle-to-grave” systems management-to include acquisition, fleet administration, storage and transportation, equipment replacement, and systems modification direction. Overall, this unit focuses on maintaining the operational readiness of the aging Minuteman III system.
Little Mountain Test Facility is a state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to simulation testing of nuclear hardness, survivability, reliability and electromagnetic compatibility of defense systems. The 1,000-acre facility is located 15 miles west of Ogden on 12th Street, near the Great Salt Lake.
Strategic Missile Integration Complex conducts system-level testing and integration. It consists of a fully configured Minuteman III silo and launch control center. Here, Minuteman IIl hardware or software is tested prior to fielding at operational units.
309th Missile Maintenance Group tests, maintains and modernizes Minuteman III systems on the Installation and at missile sites across the country, Efforts Include work conducted on support vehicles, silos, launch control centers, missiles, and more. Direction for this work is provided by the Minuteman III Systems Directorate.
Launch Control Center
Providing launch capabilities for a flight of ICBMS and buried thirty feet below the surface is the Launch Control Center (LCC). The LCC is the epicenter for monitoring and control of Minuteman ICBMS. Each LCC is responsible for a minimum of 10 missiles, but can monitor and launch up to 50. Every LCC is on continuOus 24/7 alert and manned with Air Force personnel. A typical shift for the two-officer crew in an LCC lasts 24 hours, however, it is not uncommon for the launch crews to stay manned at their LCC for 48-72 hours at a time.
Besides monitoring Minuteman missiles, LCC Crews are also responsible for monitoring strategic communications and encoded messages. They write down each encoded message and decode it to determine if it is a launch order or an exercise. In the event they receive a launch order, the crews begin launch procedures and can deploy their ICBMS in a matter of minutes.
The LCC console and equipment here at the Hill Aerospace Museum came from Missouri's Whiteman AFB, and was used by the 510th Strategic Missile Squadron between the 1960s and early 1990s.

Join us to celebrate the opening of Raise a Glass—A Contemporary Response to Animal-Shaped Vessels from the Ancient World, an exhibition at the Harvard Ceramics Program that is inspired by the Harvard Art Museums’ current special exhibition, Animal-Shaped Vessels from the Ancient World: Feasting with Gods, Heroes, and Kings.
On view from October 13 through November 26, 2018, Raise a Glass features contemporary ceramic artists responding to the elaborate vessels featured in the Animal-Shaped Vessels exhibition. Fourteen internationally recognized contemporary sculptors and vessel makers were invited to seek inspiration in subject matter, form, function and/or culture of origin from these ancient vessels, which illustrate how shapes, artistic forms, ideas, and traditions have exchanged across borders throughout time.
During the opening reception, the public will have the chance to enrich their viewing experience through a hands-on encounter with materials and process. Artists from the Harvard Ceramics Program will demonstrate the use of ceramic press molds developed for research purposes for Harvard Art Museums curators. Participants will be invited to try press molding their own terracotta animal-head drinking vessels.
The intent of Raise a Glass is for artists to work with the time-honored materials of ceramic, metal, and glass to honor and provide a complementary view into the mind of ancient makers represented in the Harvard Art Museums exhibition.

Raise a Glass is curated by Kathy King, Director of Education at the Ceramics Program and is co-sponsored by the Harvard Ceramics Program and the Harvard Art Museums, in conjunction with Animal-Shaped Vessels from the Ancient World: Feasting with Gods, Heroes and Kings, on view at the Harvard Art Museums from September 7, 2018 through January 6, 2019.
This opening reception and public demonstration will take place at the Harvard Ceramics Program, 224 Western Avenue, Allston.

The South Island Hip and Knee Program is one of five new hip and knee programs the provincial government is implementing throughout the province as one component of its four-part surgical strategy. This provincial network of hip and knee programs will address the long waits faced by people for these procedures.
With new operating room resources, including a new dedicated operating room at Royal Jubilee Hospital, approximately 800 additional joint replacement surgeries will be performed on the South Island in 2018-19, for a total of approximately 2,400 surgeries per year.

The Isle of Wight Classic Buses Beer & Walks Weekend program which was centred on Newport Quay, with routes sprending out to each courner of the island passing calling at many pubs en route, not forgetting the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and the excellent Ryde Bus Museum.
