Governor Charlie Baker and Mayor Martin J. Walsh launched a new college affordability pilot program for Boston high school graduates, which will enable low-income students to complete a four-year degree without having to pay tuition and mandatory fees.
The new pilot program, known as The Boston Bridge, will be open to all 2017 high school graduates who live in the City of Boston, including students from Boston Public School, charters and parochial schools.
The City of Boston and the Commonwealth together will cover students’ tuition and fees, after taking into account federal Pell grants, from the time a student enters community college to when they graduate from a four-year public college or university.
The new tuition-free college program builds on the City of Boston’s Tuition Free Community College initiative, and the state’s Commonwealth Commitment, both launched in the spring of 2016. The City’s Tuition Free Community College program currently provides free tuition to low-income BPS graduates who attend Bunker Hill Community College, Mass Bay Community College or Roxbury Community College. The Commonwealth Commitment offers deeply discounted tuition and fees to Massachusetts residents who earn a Bachelors’ degree at any public four-year institution after first earning an Associates’ degree at any one of the state’s community colleges, while maintaining a 3.0 grade point average and graduating within four-and-a-half years. Through this partnership, students from Boston who qualify to participate in the Commonwealth Commitment will not have to pay tuition or mandatory fees to earn their Bachelor’s degrees.

The Revera and Reel Youth Age is More Film Project is an intergenerational partnership between Revera, a Canadian leader in seniors' accommodation, care and services, and Reel Youth, a charitable project that empowers youth to create engaging films about important social issues. The partnership was launched in 2013.
With 80 films to date, the program celebrates older Canadians through story-telling and film, with the added benefit of fostering new intergenerational relationships. The project aims to shed light on ageism, challenge the assumptions of aging and recognize the valuable contributions of older adults to society.

On behalf of the Spanish Society for Parenteral and
Enteral Nutrition (SENPE), we would like to invite you
to the 40th ESPEN Congress 2018, which will be held
for the 4th time in Spain.
Following the Congresses in Barcelona (1987, 2012)
and Madrid (2000), the Spanish Society would like
to welcome all ESPEN members again to the city of
Madrid.
Madrid is the capital of Spain and one of the main
European metropolis. It is a captivating city including
some of the most visited art museums in the world
and a cultural heritage where history and modernity
blend effortlessly together. Its bright sunny weather
offers the perfect setting for a walk through the wide
green areas in the city or any other leisure activity of
your choice. In addition to this, the city´s kind-hearted
people are active participants in offering visitors
a warm welcome.
With the theme “Nutrition without borders” we want
to express our interest to explore new topics in clinical
nutrition, in different clinical settings, besides the
multidisciplinary and worldwide environment of the
Congress.
Working in close collaboration with the ESPEN
Committee Members, we have developed an attractive
program that aims to continue ESPEN’s effort
to improve Nutritional Care and Education. With
the occasion of celebrating the 40th anniversary of
ESPEN Congress and in order to remember the main
achievements of the Society during this long trajectory
we will “season” the schedule with some special
events.
We are convinced that the program of ESPEN 2018
offers a great opportunity for physicians, dietitians,
pharmacists, nutritionists, scientists and nurse
involved in the field of nutrition and metabolism to
meet and discuss cutting edge science in an informal
atmosphere, strengthening old and sparkling new
collaborations.
This is my rom programming station. I use this to repair games and phoenix CPS2 boards. The old computer on the right is the actual programming computer. I acquired it for $20 from someone in need and put it to good use.

A Water and Forestry ranger surveils a field where trees have been illegally cut down within Tiogo Forest, Burkina Faso on May 25, 2014. The trees were cut due to the inability for forest rangers to reach the area and undertake surveillance. Flooding of a nearby stream means the crossing is inaccessible for forest rangers. With the support of World Bank funding the stream will be dammed. The Forest of Tiogo in the west of Burkina Faso is one of six protected forests to benefit from the Forest Investment Program of the Climate Investment Fund. 1/4 of its 30,000 hectares have suffered degradation mainly due to overgrazing, agriculture, exploitation of its timber and non timber products.

The European University Cyprus Orientation Program is designed to welcome new students to the University community, facilitating the process of settling into a new and unfamiliar environment. Orientation days are organized every semester, two weeks prior to the beginning of classes. Faculty and staff are on hand to show students around campus, advise on University policies and regulations, and discuss the selection of courses.

The Lagoon of Maâmoura is one of the 40 Tunisian wetlands of international
importance designated under the Ramsar Convention and a key site for the
conservation of the biodiversity in the Mediterranean. The site is part of
a wetland system located on the eastern coast of the Cape Bon peninsula in
Northern Tunisia. Therewith the Lagoon of Maâmoura is located on the
Central Mediterranean Flyway between Africa and Eurasia and receives every
year important numbers of birds during migration and for wintering.
The Common Shell duck is one of the numerous bird species which come every
year to enrich this site for a few days, weeks or months. When significant
numbers of birds appear on the site in the same time, they can completely
change its "visual and acoustic landscape". In their turn, these birds
attract birdwatchers and other nature lovers, who are more and more to come
and visit the Cape Bon.
Aware of stakes, but also the potential risks, of this always increasing
interest in natural sites, five Tunisian environmental NGOs have joint each
other in a project aiming to develop ecotourism activities for good site
management and the conservation of the biodiversity and natural ressources.
Through the set-up of local stakeholder netwoks, the evaluation of the
ecotouristic potential and capacity of five pilote sites as well as the
development of birdwatching activities, these NGOs wish to contribute to
the sustainable socio-economic development of their regions. By the
implementation of monitoring programs of the state of the sites and their
biodiversity, which have been established in partnership with the local
stakeholders, they are also participating in the local sustainable
management of the sites.

City Program Brings Immigrant Youth into City Bureaus
Teens taking part in Portland Parks & Recreation's Portland World Cup Soccer tournament enjoyed career days at a variety of prominent organizations last, including Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R).
Portland Fire & Rescue sponsors and coaches teams in the Portland World Cup Soccer Tournament, and gave youth a tour of their training facility in East County last week – in hopes some of them will be inspired to become firefighters.
Career days are an important part of the Portland World Cup Tournament. Youth originally from all over the globe learn about various professions and employment opportunities with government agencies and private companies in Portland. World Cup participants can talk to a wide range of professionals ask questions about career paths, workforce diversity, education, skills, and more. The goals is that such experiences will aid the teens in choosing a future career, and further integrating them into life in Portland, and in the US.
