Commissioned work for the release of Procreate 1.6 ipad application.
The idea here was to have an unfinished look to this piece.I figured i'd do an old school pencil drawing not completely painted over to emphasize this concept. At the same time a good opportunity to show the range of traditional styles you can achieve with the sketching Protools from 1.6
I’ve done a few drawings of this great laneway near the corner of Johnston and Brunswick Streets in Fitzroy.
Two things happened that drove me to draw this one: I came across a cool image (somewhat unsourced, annoyingly) on Instagram, and True Grit Texture Supply released a really neat set of pencil brushes for Procreate: the Chromagraph pencils.
I used the Deutsche Kolorist toothy pencil brush for this one, along with a bold retro color palette, and some textures sprinkled on top.
Adams River Sockeye run. They are expecting 6 milli0on fish in this small river for spawning this year. Unfortunately many of the other salmon runs are lower in numbers that they have ever been. There are several reasons for this ,including overfishing as they head to fresh water, by catch kill and in some cases , loss of spawning grounds. It was wonderful to see that this stock is still viable.
