Gossett, a former inmate who now works for the Alabama Department of Corrections, was recognized by Gov. Bentley in his State of the State Address to a joint session of the Alabama Legislature. Mr. Gossett now serves as a Chaplain at Holman Correctional Facility. He has worked with the Alabama Department of Corrections assisting and ministering to men through the We Care Ministry, which trains missionary chaplains to serve in correctional facilities that request assistance. Bentley discussed his $800 million prison construction plan, which will alleviate overcrowding and understaffing in Alabama's prisons, expanded the state's already lauded prekindergarten program with $20 million and creating a study commission to look at the feasibility of removing the state sales tax on food.
