Client: The Creative Circus Ad School
Description: You’d think a school with scooters jetting down the hallways, dogs roaming in and out of classrooms, and a ping-pong table used far too much could sell itself. But the Creative Circus, a small portfolio school in Atlanta, must advertise to recruit all the weird kids in the world, and make them employable, as they like to say. A very unique brochure, doubling as a poster, is sent out to prospective students. A deck of cards is part of the package and features fifty-two pieces of student work in design, advertising, and photography. So if you like what you see, embrace your weirdness, and come to a school that doesn’t have
hoops of fire, but very well could, someday.

Inspired by Argentina and its culture, Alejandro Paul's Candy Script captures the country's spirit. It comes from the tradition of window sign painting, but its thick hand-brushed characters, with alternates for almost every upper and lowercase letter, have a personality all their own. Tons of OpenType alternates included, over 600 characters in all.

The first iterations of dingbats appeared as response to the needs of early press technologies. A cultural zeitgeist of sorts, dingbats were used as space markers and simple ornamentation in metal typesetting of the late 19th century. The term itself is derived from the technique of “’ding’ing an ornament into space then ‘bat’ing tight for inking.”
Quite removed from the necessities of print, Zapf’s 1973 dingbats exist in relation to the beginnings of the digital frontier. Assuming the position of Professor of Typographic Computer Programs at Rochester Institute of Technology, Zapf was one of the first typographers to work with IBM and Xerox to develop the publishing software necessary to bring print into the digital realm. The historical significance of Zapf’s Dingbats is solidified once introduced as one of 35 post script fonts built into Apple’s LaserWriter Plus, achieving both the blessings and curses of ultimate democratic distribution.
Abstract symbols and representations of readily identifiable forms make up the dingbat language. Hands, religious symbology, airplanes, and a simple pair of scissors lie next to one of another in comical ambiguous combination. Noting the awkward and exceedingly real interaction of such object trouves with our most powerful cultural logos, we approach some understanding of what seems a natural human endeavor to invest in symbols of permanence.

Australian Wine Centre was established in Hong Kong in 2004 and specializes in the sales and marketing of premium “boutique” wines from Australia. The company’s vision is to bring the delights of fine wines produced by small volume producers which would otherwise not be available in the city.
LEAP delivered a brochure that provided an A to Z guide about its products and services, accompanied with nicely selected images of wines, wineries and vineyards. We combined the colors black, light blue and white along with large images to create an elegant and luxurious look.
