A nice 9-point in his prime. He will be a better buck next year and the year after that. With a little luck we will meet again. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

This time of the year (mid june-mid july is the prime time for watching Noctilucent Clouds (NLC: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noctilucent_cloud).
I was working on my new bike and just gooing back to my house and by chance looked up to the sky only to see this glorious NLC display. I've not seen NLC's too often in my life but today way definately way above average! When I took the photo they seemed to disappear already again and also lower clouds (well *every* other cloud is in an lower altitude than NLCs) were moving in.
Sorry for the crappy uban foreground I just had to pick a spot near a small field in walking distance from home.

Canon1DX-2 with 300mm 2.8 prime lens
This camera and lens are a phenomenal combination as you can see......there is very little grain in the picture and at f/5.6 the set up has managed to apply focus throughout the picture. This, in my opinion, is down to selecting, in camera AF point expansion in this case 9 points.
If you're wondering about the settings, why f/5.6, why ISO 6400 well this is because the light at that time was dull and to stop the subject in flight requires fast speed. In hindsight, the f-stop could have been 6.3 or even 7.1 or the ISO 5000 producing a shutter speed of around 1/3000 sec but you go with what feels right to you the button presser and hope for the best. One other thing to consider is exposure the bird has a large amount of white about it, so I have underexposed by 2/3rds of a stop.
The pumpkins and this old truck are definitely past their prime in terms of usage, however on this morning they all returned to their forgotten glory!!

I only had a prime lens on me today but couldn't resist a few shots on this small beach with the air pollution being quite high creating a hazy atmosphere. Most of the shots weren't much good due to the high contrast but I did manage to grab this one when the sun suddenly dived behind a cloud. It would look nicer if the boats lined up a little better but then I quite like the atmosphere anyway. I have one other shot which I've posted on my 'Thai Diary' stream..
Prime morning. The tree line over the cornfield. Through the fog a little blue on the left a touch of pink from the sun rise on the right. Me on the front yard at 7 o'clock in the fog and wet grass.
