I know sometimes I'm mysterious
And you're mysterious too
But tonight
I don't wanna be mysterious with you.
A Stellar's Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) on the birdbath in our yard. This is an adult in it's prime, and has a wonderful full crest. It loves it's peanuts and must have made off with at least a dozen out of the feeder!
Taken in very dark conditions with the RF800mm lens which isn't renowned for its low light performance.
This is a very light variant and looked to be in good condition. There was another SEO sat on the adjacent post and this one dive bombed it, chasing it away before calmly circling round and alighting on the next post. Wonderful to see - although I sadly missed a shot of the action.
Having been somewhat thwarted by the sudden downpour earlier in the day, I was finally able to get the bridge shot I wanted as IAIS 6988 returned to Annawan on it's final excursion trip of the day. I skipped a bunch of other opportunities to intercept the Iowa Bolt just to get a prime shot here on the bridge. If only she were moving forward instead of backwards, but sometimes you just have to take what you can get.

Hummingbird, a PRIME subject to photograph if you're in the Americas and you like bird photography. Unfortunately I don't have cameras or lenses good enough to get those "frozen wing" hovering shots of these birds on a regular basis, so perching will have to do for now.
