HMM- the theme for today, 5/25, is handle and this one is probably the most colorful of the 3-4 macros that i'll put up.

A goldfinch and a bluebird wait patiently for a chance at the suet block. The big flicker is in no hurry though.

A bit of photoshop play with primary colours, clipping masks and some of my photos from recent wanderings. HMMM
Fun with Lr graduated filter - dialed down the saturation to create a grey-scale area along the top. I also used the adjustment brush to tint the tips of the paint brushes.
This is just about the same setup as my "Splash of Red" shot. This time I was lazy and did not try to hide the tape holding down the glasses so I just cropped the bottoms out. The glasses are taped to a piece of particle board. On the bottom of the board I taped some wheels from a lego train set. The whole platform is then slammed into a brick causing the splash. I use a sound trigger to trigger the flash which is under the table pointing at the white background. Check the comments and my previous splash shot for more setup details.
The other morning there was a forecast for a potential bit of mist so I decided to pop over to the west moor. Unfortunately the inversion layer was poor and the mist was not very well defined. Plan C was a shot of Staple Tor as sunrise. The cloud front was moving slowly east and I was standing on the tor hoping desperately for the gap on the horizon to stay open - thankfully it did and although the light was short-lived it was an epic sunrise. This is a big 5 shot panorama from Great Mis Tor to Middle Staple Tor.
Today I'm very excited: I'm about to go on a shooting expedition.
Not here in my usual surroundings, but over in The Big City. In a neighbourhood I've always always ALWAYS wanted to shoot.
It's rough. Um... very rough. But I have (for the first time ever) friends going with me. Good friends. Old friends. One of whom just bought his first DSLR and can't wait to get out and try all its coolness.
So... yeah. The roughest neighbourhood in Canada awaits me, with all its dirt and decay and decrepitude.
To quote my hero Paul Westerberg, I can't hardly wait.
I didn't originally intend to create a series of wine glass shots but these are fun! The bottom glass is secured with double sided tape and adhesive putty, the other two are just balanced. Not long after I took this shot, the whole thing came crashing down but only the middle glass broke.
Strobist info: This was lit with a single SB-24 placed under the table. The flash was pointed to the white background and set at 1/4 power and its widest setting. The flash was triggered by Gadget Infinity slaves.
The glasses in the back are filled with colored water and the glasses in the front have plain water. You can really see the imperfections of these cheap glasses in the refraction. The lighting is a single SB-24, under the table that the glasses are on, facing the white background. The flash was set to 1/4 power.
The lighting on this was fairly simple. A single SB-24 on 1/16 power aimed at the white paper background behind the glasses. The glasses were on a tilted platform and the camera was tilted at the same angle. See the comments for the setup shots.
due to suspected copyright infringement, I have decided, regretfully, to drastically reduce the image size of my uploads and place a watermark on the image to hopefully prevent further infringement, I hope that this will not reduce your enjoyment of my photos, many regards to all my friends, Peter

Primary colors are sets of colors that can be combined to make a useful range (gamut) of colors. For human applications, three are often used; for additive combination of colors, as in overlapping projected lights or in CRT displays, the primary colors normally used are red, green, and blue. For subtractive combination of colors, as in mixing of pigments or dyes, such as in printing, the primaries normally used are magenta, cyan, and yellow.[1]
Any choice of primary colors is essentially arbitrary; for example, an early color photographic process, autochrome, typically used orange, green, and violet primaries.[2]
