Not a scene of an Italian or Greek or French country-alley, but one taken from a back alley somewhere in central Singapore.

There is HOPE after all for our little city to be a vibrant mecca of colors, with sufficient cans of ICI-Dulux primary colors!

This is a shot of a corn-field with the Common (aka Corn) Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) growing in it. Unfortunately in recent years the Common Poppy has been in decline due to the intensive use of herbicides, particularly in the UK. Luckily there seems to be a slight resurgence in their numbers, although whether that's because they're becoming resistant, or whether farmers are using less herbicide I don't know.

This shot's also interesting because it contains all three of the primary colours of light, red, green and blue. You can make any colour by varying their intensities. For example if you add equal amounts of Red and Green you get Yellow. More info on that here.

With the primary meanings of Peruvian lilies being friendship and devotion, these precious flowers are sure to express your most playful sentiments. The vibrant and long-lasting Peruvian lily is native to South America, but its appeal has spread far beyond the land of its origin.

Okay something really different from me here, but I'm starting to be influenced by some of the images I'm seeing out there in contact land...

I returned late Monday (April 30) from 6 days in Banff. Late winter was a sight to behold in that incredible part of the world as anyone who's been there would know.

As you're heading to Banff from Calgary, you see the Canadian Rockies in the west. Once you drive through Canmore you are just a short distance from Banff. When you reach the first exit to Banff, you take a right onto the off ramp. At the stop sign at the end of the off ramp, if you take a left you will soon be in downtown Banff. If you take a right, the first park you come to will be Cascade Ponds. And this is where this photo was taken.

Soon the snow melt will refill this pond so that it will once again reflect Mt. Rundle on the west side of Banff but up through the end of April and early May all the lakes are still very much frozen. Don't get me wrong. The ice on many of the lakes are now melting like Two Jack and Lake Louise and Moraine Lake but it will still be a while before all the ice is gone.

Primary photo equipment for this photo: Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 16-35mm f2.8L II USM lens.
