Potentilla 'Miss Wilmott' in my garden in Wigan, Lancs. They're very pretty but the devil to get a good photo of! The petals are very reflective so they always get overexposed unless you deliberately underexpose and edit later to restore the proper colour (I didn't just tell you that :)) I got in close to blur the peals and focus your eye on the centre of the flower

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is a purple or pink day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is stuffed animals. And since I had my X-mas party yesterday, I feel a little bit like this Mama pig : full and for some reason my hair and head hurts (and I double checked: there is no piglet standing on my head, but it sure feels like it ). So for this theme I decided to go with my stuffed pig family. Those pigs are from Sweden (well, I got them at Ikea that is why I assumed they have a Swedish citizenship ). And why not show you how stuffed Swedish piglets are brought to this world. It is comment knowledge that those stuffed cuties are very light and are close cousins with birds, so that is why stuffed Swedish piglets hach from eggs ! But don’t take my word for it, I have a picture to prove it : a hatching Swedish stuffed piglet ! Welcome to the Flickr world my sweet SSP (Stuffed Swedish Piglet). I truly hope you like it ! See you after my hungover but meanwhile you can always like this picture and help make my life a little bit better by doing so !

This was only a seemingly easy theme. When what I tried to do with a lily in a flower pot on the window sill didn't work as imagined (same with a eucalyptus leaf) a bunch of untimely tulips came to the rescue. Spring and tulip season are still months away, but our favourite flower stall at the Saturday market already sells tulips and since this winter is so drab and dark they are a most welcome forerunner of spring.
I kind of blocked myself out with this theme but didn't want to skip again, so I tried to focus on at least taking a decent image. I did focus stacking to achieve the best possible overall sharpness. No in-camera stacking this time because of the fairly large DOF that is to be covered when photographing the inside of a tulip blossom straight from above. So I kept the focus distance settings in the stacking menu at 10 (on a scale from one to 10) and combined the 30 images in Helicon Focus (method B, R8, S4). I must admit that the tulip's stigma is a little off-center but I think it adds a little pizazz to the scene (at least I hope so) so I left it as it was (plus I didn't want to take even more images, and I was also late in the game).

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is a purple or pink day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is bow. At first, I decided to go with Mr. Egg and his polka dot bowtie but then I realized that I already took that exactly same picture last year (or maybe the year before that …), so I was scratching my head and desperately looking for another concept for the theme… Then, out of the blue, Mr. Egg had an emotional break down. He saw his reflection in the mirror and realized he was completely bald (not that there is something wrong about being bald ! I , personally, know, several bald men and women who are very, very handsome… so hair has nothing to do with it !). But poor Mr. Egg was truly depressed and that is when a green bow jumped in and showed its support to Mr. Egg, gently touching his bald head… and that is the exact moment when I took a picture of this very, very touching scene between an hysterical egg, crying over his baldness, and a green bow, trying to console the bald egg. And if you have a bald person in your entourage, please be extra nice to them and don’t hesitate to give them a hug. Hair isn’t important, it is what is underneath, the brain and the heart of the person that matters.

Pink, bright & beautiful! Caught this gorgeous Hibiscus blossom just about to open in my Summer garden. Can't wait to see it bloomining again this year. Happy Friday my friends =)
