... We were wrapping family presents but Miss A took a shine to the cuddly
soft Bee (in the previous image) .. this is a variation on a theme from yesterday !
It was a good lesson in how Christmas is about giving to show people we
care, and not about what we want for ourselves! I think she understood it
and I think Santa was so impressed with her that he has reserved a similar
one for her stocking
We call Miss A Buglet or Looliebug because as a baby she used to chatter to the ladybugs in her nursery ~ because of that people often buy her ladybug related toys!

Prehistory
From 13th Century on a wall surrounded the city. After the first Turkish siege of 1529 and the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), this fortification was further expanded and strengthened. In addition, outside the fortifications a glacis, a strip of meadow, was created that can not be obstructed and the defense impeding growth is not allowed. The strip with construction ban was originally 95 meters wide and has been extended till 1683 to 450 meters width. The with projecting gun terraces - so-called bastions - equipped city walls proved during the second Turkish siege in 1683 very much, but then lost in importance and were from the late 18th Century outdated military technology.

Demolition of the city wall and laying ot the ring road
On 20 December 1857 took Emperor Franz Joseph I. the decision to "abandon the ramparts and fortifications of the inner city, like the ditches around the same" and he ordered the construction of a boulevard at this point. In his "Most High Handwritten Letter" to Interior Minister Alexander von Bach, which begins with the oft-quoted words, "It is my will" and on 25 December was published in full on page 1 of the official "Wiener Zeitung", the Emperor decreed the exact size and use of the area newly acquired and announced a design competition. In March 1858 began at the Rotenturmtor by the Danube Canal the demolition work that was completed only in 1874. The new road was planned as a representation Boulevard; therefore for the load carts has been provided a parallel "load road". This traffic control exists until today. The ceremony took place in front of the castle gate outside the castle ring, in the subsequent voyage of the guests of honor for the royal table in the Prater, more than 100 carriages have been involved. At the time of the opening of the road (today's name) Stubenring, Burgring, Dr.-Karl -Renner-Ring, Universitätsring (former Dr.Karl-Lueger-Ring) and Scots ring (Schottenring) were still largely undeveloped. From the wool line (Wollzeile) to Babenbergerstraße, however, builders of aristocracy and bourgeoisie had already many "stately" homes built.
Buildings
Along the ring road numerous public and private buildings were erected. Aristocrats and other wealthy individuals who hastened to build representative Palais (Ringstraßenpalais).
One of the first buildings was the Heinrichhof (historical spelling without s) of the brick manufacturer Heinrich von Drasche-Wartinberg, who, lately damaged by war, stood till 1954 opposite the Opera House.
Noteworthy are most of all the K.K. Court Opera (now the State Opera ) in the Neo-Renaissance style by August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Null, the Parliament in neo-Attic style (a reference to the altathenische (pertaining to ancient Athens) democracy) and the Palais Epstein of Theophil von Hansen, the then New Town Hall in the Flemish Gothic style by Friedrich von Schmidt , the Burgtheater by Karl von Hasenauer and Gottfried Semper and the new university building by Heinrich von Ferstel . The Votive Church is the only religious building in neo-Gothic style (by Heinrich von Ferstel), which was founded in 1853 on the occasion of the deliverance of the Emperor Franz Joseph of assassination and for decades was under construction.
Cross to the ring road should be built before the historic Hofburg, the imperial residence, the monumental imperial forum to demonstrate the power of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the project remained a torso. Was built up to the First World War within the ring road, the Neue Hofburg, in which now the Austrian National Library, the Ethnographic Museum, the collection of ancient musical instruments, the Ephesus Museum and the Collection of Arms and Armory are housed. Other parts of the realized Imperial Forum are outside the ring road, the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Art History Museum) and the Natural History Museum.

PRECIOSA ORNELA presents a new pressed bead known as PRECIOSA Ripple™ under the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads brand.
The circular bead with a 12 mm diameter has a centrally located hole and an undulating surface on both sides. The identical profile of both sides of the bead enable its 100% use during the application of a series of ten new types of combined, dual color vacuum decorations called California. The undulating surface of the bead causes a ripple to pass through the metallic decoration in both the shiny and matt finish. The centrally located hole predestines this bead to be used in combination with seed beads or fire polished beads during stringing or embroidery.
Certificates
Product certificate according to the PN 0860 Industrial Standard and the PN 0800 – PN 0826 Material Standards. With the exception of color Nos. 71000 and 71010, none of the Pressed Bead colors contain lead and/or lead oxide.

GOVERNOR TOMBLIN PRESENTS TINY
HOMES TO FLOOD SURVIVORS
Houses constructed by more than 2,000
high school students across the state
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (December 20, 2016) - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today presented survivors of the June 2016 floods with keys to new tiny homes in a ceremony at the 130th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia National Guard. Through the "Big Hearts Give Tiny Homes" project, 15 homes were constructed by students of Simulated Workplace programs, an initiative of the West Virginia Department of Education's Career Technical Education division.
More than 2,000 students from 12 high schools designed, constructed and managed the tiny homes project with guidance from certified industry instructors over the course of seven weeks. The students also worked with businesses and organizations within their communities to gather donations to equip the homes with linens, beds, washers and dryers, groceries, televisions and other appliances.
"Time and again, in the aftermath of this tragic flooding, I have seen the spirit of West Virginians make a difference for their neighbors. These students have shown that spirit in a truly remarkable way," Gov. Tomblin said. "I know how eager the students have been to meet the families whose lives will change for the better because of them. And I join them in hoping these homes provide warmth and a sense of place and home to these families - this holiday season and beyond."
Through West Virginia's Simulated Workplace programs, high school classrooms have been transformed into companies, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on training and learn high-demand skills. All Simulated Workplace companies - from HVAC to electrical, plumbing and carpentry - collaborated to make the tiny homes construction possible.
"This was a true collaborative effort among our Simulated Workplace programs and their communities," said State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael Martirano. "These incredibly talented students, along with their teachers and communities, worked tirelessly to help families in need. Their work is a true testament to both their skills and their generosity."
West Virginia National Guard units from across West Virginia transported the tiny homes from each Career Technical Education center for the ceremony and will transport the homes to their final locations for the families.
"This is another example of how West Virginia comes together in times of need," said Major General James Hoyer. "The West Virginia National Guard is proud to work with the Department of Education to help facilitate the tiny homes project. Our schools, local businesses, citizens and all aspects of our communities have come together to build these homes to help their fellow Mountaineers in the recovery and healing from this summer's devastating floods. We are honored to participate in this program."
The Governor's Office, West Virginia Department of Education, West Virginia National Guard and West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) partnered to make the project possible. The West Virginia United Methodist Committee on Relief, a VOAD organization, is providing the resources needed to put the homes in place and connect them to utilities.
The schools participating in "Big Hearts Give Tiny Homes" were: Cabell County Career Center Calhoun/Gilmer Career Center, Carver Career Center, Fayette Institute of Technology, James Rumsey Technical Institute, Marion County Career Center, Mingo County High School, Monongalia Technical Center, Nicholas County Career Center, Putnam County Career Center, Spring Valley High School and Wyoming County Career Center.
