We celebrated Jasper's 4th birthday today (actual birthday is Tuesday). He knows the words "presents" and "birthday" so he was pretty excited when we told him that it was his birthday and he was getting presents. You could almost hear, see and smell all the excitement synapses firing in his brain. We're big on dog birthdays. A couple of shots of our previous Aussie Syd's birthday in the comments.
It is nice to be able to put up a tree and have some presents around it. I missed this last year due to our move.

As usual Ava is in the thick of things and Christmas morning was no exception. We just returned home yesterday after almost a week traveling to see our families. It's good to be home!

The National Museum of Finland (Finnish: Kansallismuseo, Swedish: Nationalmuseum) presents Finnish history from the Stone Age to the present day, through objects and cultural history. The Finnish National Romantic style building is located in central Helsinki and is a part of the Finnish Heritage Agency (until 2018 the National Board of Antiquities) (Finnish: Museovirasto, Swedish: Museiverket), under the Ministry of Culture and Education. The museum's entrance hall ceiling has ceiling frescoes in the national epic Kalevala theme, painted by Akseli Gallén-Kallela, which can be seen without an entrance fee. The frescoes, painted in 1928, are based on the frescoes painted by Gallén-Kallela in the Finnish Pavilion of the Paris World Fair in 1900. The building of the National Museum was designed by architects Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren, and Eliel Saarinen. The appearance of the building reflects Finland's medieval churches and castles. The architecture belongs to national romanticism and the interior mainly to art nouveau. The museum was built from 1905 to 1910 and opened to the public in 1916. The museum was named the Finnish National Museum after Finland's independence in 1917. Here are all my doll related Christmas presents. I've already opened them all, but here they are before I opened them. I'll take more pictures of them in the future.
My daughter’s Christmas presents 😊 I am trying this year to have a low waste low carbon Christmas by gifting preloved and vintage as well as new gifts. I also thought I would try my hand at Furoshiki (Japanese scarf wrapping). I used actual scarves rather than the squares of fabric especially designed for this purpose so my wrapping techniques are somewhat ‘creative’! I also made some pretty tags printed on recycled paper and re-used some Lindor clear acrylic ‘balls’ which originally came filled with Lindt Lindor chocolates, that I have collected over the years.
This year we decided that instead of buying lots of presents we would have a family 'Secret Santa'. We each had to spend £10 and buy our presents from charity shops. I received a goodie bag these are two of the items that were inside it. I've not played Kan-U.Go for many years and the Trains game I've never seen.

My take on the sketch for SSS flickr challenge #55. I used supplies from the November 2015 card kit called Gifts of Love. I stamped the little critter (from Gifts of Love stamp set) on watercolor paper and colored him (or her) up with two shades of gray ZIG markers and a dark green ZIG. The presents (from Gifts of Love) were also colored with ZIGs. Once they were dry I trimmed them out. Die cut the patterned paper from the kit to create a little hill of snow and added some Diamond Stickles. The sentiment (from Gifts of Love) was stamped in black ink. The critter and presents were adhered with foam dimensionals.

In 1907 the periodical Hungarian Competition (Magyar Pályázat) presents a description of the building with the title: Mr. Béla Bedő's Honvéd Street Palace. The contemporary photos clearly show that the designer, Emil Vidor, took good care of the building’s interior space as well, in the spirit of Gesamtkunstwerk (all objects in the same style).
This powerful unity of the arts and crafts in 1903 was a groundbreaking event in Hungary. The Bedő House was built only six years after the Belgian Victor Horta made his first fully Art Nouveau house, and in the same time with the Scottish architect, Mackintosh's famous arts house.
Even a contemporary description mentions the planned use of specially designed murals, the richly applied stained and ground glass, and generally the special design furnishing of the whole building.
Emil Vidor is the architect of the house (27 March, 1867, Budapest - 8 July, 1952, Budapest). After studying in Budapest, from 1890 he continues his studies in Munich finishing them in Berlin in 1891. Returning home, he is employed by the office of Miklós Ybl. From 1894 he is running the planning office for designing the Ősbudavár Building Complex for the Millenneum Exhibition - medieval houses on the area of the today's Amusement Park, in the Városliget. Opening his own office in1896, he is planning apartment blocks and villas for the wealthy.
He builds the first Art Nouveau style house, the Villa-Egger, on Városligeti fasor 24 (City Park Avenue) in 1901-1902. He starts planning for Béla Bedő in 1903, this is when the Bedő House is built, on 3rd Honvéd Street, which is giving home today to the Hungarian Secession House. Although while in Germany he becomes acquainted mainly with the Jugendstil art, the French and Belgian Modern architecture and the Art Nouveau do not remain unknown for him either. One of his most original works the Bedő House shows the influence of Belgian architects Horta and Hankar, but is also influeneced by Hungarian patterns, like the Zsolnay factory's majolicas.

After much wrangling, the flash batteries went dead, chasing them around a little, 2 assistants, and got one usable photo. Life with schnauzers :)

THEN, we played a dirty trick on her, and gave her a Mimi body ...
but, she is such a trooper, she even rocked that look!
She decided that IF she is to continue to humor us WITH that body type, she would at least like to give it some Class and Sophistication ...

The Mitsubishi is practically a mechanical Santa Claus, really. Only cuter, and with 87% less chance of being impersonated by your uncle.
This was actually the third time we opened presents for Christmas. All of the cousins were here for this. It was like a shark feeding frenzy with everyone opening presents.
i love my Jacqueline! my christmas presents from her arrived early (and were a complete surprise!) and so i just had to takea photo of how beautiful they are! i can't wait to play with them :D
i love them all soooo much i can't even choose a personal favorite :D
