I realized this morning that for a long time I lived, for the most part, in my own head. I didn't experience anything fully. What I remember from that period of my life is not what I did, but instead what I was remembering and trying to relive from my past.
But now, finally, I'm a participant in my own destiny.
Thank god. And so what if I wasted my 20's? My 30's are a lot better.
Bought myself an early Christmas/birthday gift. Charged them up last night to see if I’d like these better than the first in-the-ear ones.

A fancy present box for a 30th birthday. Delivered to a stylish cocktail party in the hills of Perth.
Inside a dense chocolate mudcake filled and covered in white chocolate ganache.
I have wanted to make a present box cake for a while and was very happy that I got my chance!
D200 passes Barford St Martin, between Salisbury and Yeovil Junction with Traintours' 'Desert Songster' on 31st August 1987.
The tour ran from Preston to Manchester Victoria, Stockport, Bescot, Northampton, Kensington Olympic, Hounslow, Richmond, Waterloo, Salisbury and then to Exeter St Davids. The return run was via Taunton, Castle Cary, Newbury, Reading, Banbury, Nuneaton, Crewe and then retracing it's route via Stockport to Preston.
This was the day of my 21st Birthday: nearly 30 years later I can remember nothing of the day apart from this 'one shot' photographic trip.

This design was a lot harder that I had thought. Made me realise how much I rely on ribbon or piping around the base of a cake ! large cake is triple layer carrot cake with lemon buttercream and the smaller is vanilla and raspberry. Delivering to Coombe Abbey tonight for a special 40th party.

As July 4th approaches we may wonder if the economy and the environment will ever emerge from the outhouse where they mire, smelling like dead fish.
It is impossible to know the future but the portents and signs point to the fact that we are at a watershed.
Will we remain shortsighted or can we embrace an overview that allows us to make a better future?
En Un hombre que se parecía a Orestes, Álvaro Cunqueiro fai varias alusións a sereas, cando se presenta a un músico hiperbóreo que desembarca na busca destes seres: “El motivo de mi viaje es escuchar sirenas, trasponer sus tonadas para laúd, y desembarco en este puerto averiguando si modernamente, en las playas próximas, ha sido oída alguna de estas señoras”.
Fai tal viaxe a causa de que nos seus mares xa non se oía tal canto: “viajó al sur por escuchar sirenas, mudas las del notte marino por la astucia del misionero irlandés san Tigearnail”. Na conversa con el, un siríaco asentado no porto desde hai tempo tamén presta atención ao tema: “por herencia de un tío mío, de familia de pilotos levantinos, tengo en un pergamino tres cláusulas interrogantes para sirenas, a las que estas damas de la mar no pueden negarse a responder, y me gustaría hacer la prueba”. Tamén se fai referencia máis adiante a estes seres cando se describe a beleza de Ifigenia: “Con el paso de los años, Ifigenia se iba haciendo luminosa, y bajo la transparente y blanquísima piel se adivinaban los delicados huesos. El pelo, bajo su peine, sonaba musical, como dicen que suele hacerlo el de las sirenas”. Outro dos personaxes que fan ao caso é o lego acólito: “El lego irlandés, acólito de san Tigearnail, que disfrazado de heredero de la corona de los hiperbóreos salió al mar cuando el santo misionero quiso cazar con red y cuervos gaélicos el canto de las sirenas. Cumino è l'ultimo di ben nove cuccioli arrivati da noi al Rifugio Ohana, i suoi fratellini sono stati adottati, l'ultima, Caramella, domenica, mentre lui ora è solo ed è un po' triste! Così l'abbiamo portato per la prima volta in passeggiata, con ben due pettorine per sicurezza, e si è dimostrato abbastanza bravo, ancora due o tre uscite e sarà perfetto. Forza adottiamo Cumino!
