Godrevy Point, Cornwall

Returning to one of my favourite walls in Cornwall when I was editing this image I genuinely could not decide on which crop suited it best so would appreciate any views on that? Other crop of the image is at www.flickr.com/photos/184798091@N07/52104635258/in/datepo...

These little birds are on the UK Conservation Red list

They are often seen perched on hedges, posts or wires, singing their jangling song. In the summer they prefer open farmland and in winter they may be found in stubbles, root crops, weedy fields and cattle yards or stockyards.

ALTHOUGH Wrens prefer to feed in the undergrowth, they typically emerge from cover periodically and perch in the open briefly.. He uttered a loud, rattling alarm call, I reeled of a few grabbed images and he was gone. Seen near the Restharrow Scrape Sandwich Bay Kent.

“The moth prefers the moon and detests the sun, while the butterfly loves the sun and hides from the moon. Every living creature responds to light. But depending on the amount of light you have inside, determines which lamp in the sky your heart will swoon.”

Fynn is the kind of cat who prefers to start the day slowly, VERY slowly. You could drop a bag of his favourite treats next to him and he wouldn't move a whisker. The photo in the comments was taken about 10 minutes later when he couldn't sleep any longer because his buddy Linus made such a fuss about THE BIRDS.

On Black

I prefer the b&w as we had to visit during the late morning and middle of the day - with extremely harsh light. I don't think the colour looks good - and the east coast sand is pale (not miles and miles of GOLDEN sand.....(grin). So..... I have converted the colour branches to black and white. The black line at the base of one of the branches is part of the bark.... :-)

I prefer this to the previous shot, what do you think?

Normally I much prefer concrete interiors but, in seeing this stairwell, I was struck by how much modern design is constantly pulling cues from traditional visions. The sweeping curves and converging arcs are all contained in contemporary concrete interpretations. This was merely a design that was at the cutting edge in the Victorian era, and now adorned with a flower display that is in keeping with that time.

Due to its diet the golden monkey prefers a habitat with abundant fruit and bamboo. The golden monkey moves in between areas depending on the season. During the season where ripe fruit is available they remain in those areas. With the beginning of the rainy season, bamboo is shooting and the golden monkeys move to such habitats. Results of studies indicate that if there is an area consisting of mixed fruit and bamboo, the golden monkeys tend to frequent that area more than areas consisting of only bamboo. Authors of one study reported that golden monkeys are most frequently seen in bamboo forests, suggesting that the species prefers this habitat.

The golden monkey can travel in various group sizes, and have been seen in small groups of three up to large groups of 62 monkeys. The groups that are found at higher elevations tend to be smaller. The golden monkey will often return to one of several different sleeping areas after a day of feeding. The monkeys often sleep in small subgroups of four, at the top of bamboo plants. They will often use a dense bamboo plant, or a combination of several bamboo plants that weave together to make a sufficient foundation for sleep. The golden monkey will often feed near the sleeping area and return to this same sleeping location day after day.

Thanks to all who take the time to view, comment on and favor my images. It is very much appreciated.

Would prefer a little more quality here but I like the shot. If there had been a little more light it would have been an easier photo.

It's always breathtaking to watch a prairie sunrise - the moment before the world is born, and then the spreading light. I often turn my attention away from the east or southeast, toward the landscape in the process of being illuminated. The pink blush on distant hills; the warm glow. On this outing I had three Plains Bison - older, "bachelor bulls" that prefer to be far from the chaos of herd life - and one of them added the final touch to this panorama of the Frenchman River Valley at first light.

I know most of you seem to prefer the coloured version when I post both, but the B&W is for my 365 project, which I have decided to do entirely in B&W (apart from one blue one...) - it is a challenge to get the conversion looking just so!! I am enjoying myself with this project! 365project.org/peterscherub2/365

I rarely make portraits of myself... I prefer to be an element of my photos than the main theme...

My dear Athena helped me to update me a little and here is my new version!

"I made my own favorite trips,

I experienced all the wounds that life gave me.

I counted errors and corrects but they came out confused

because I never found out who was very much at fault.

I fell asleep in hugs of mine and others,

loves that the water extinguished in time.

I hid my past moments from my friends

because I was ashamed to lie again.

A sun comes out and looks at my face

but it doesn't burn me, the fire warms me.

What I loved I made mine,

the wind that blows does not make me cold.

A sun comes out to show me what I'm worth

but the pain doesn't bother me anymore.

I'm walking away because I think I'm starting

be me, maybe for the first time.

I walked on routes that others showed me

and I drowned a thousand times in the sea of the mind.

I got drunk on dreams and lay there in a daze

and the silence always woke me up somewhere else."

Stamani mi sono alzato alle 6 per scattare qualche foto di primo mattino :)) .

I prefer to read the real deal & not electronically

Thanks to donnacurrall for suggesting this. So far (on Facebook) preference for unclipped wings is more than double that for clipped.

Just to be clear - these are two separate shots of the same aircraft, taken about a year apart, during which interval the detachable wingtips were reattached. Removing the wing tips gives increased manoeuvrability at lower altitudes at the expense of performance at higher levels. Generally, Spitfire aficionados prefer to see full wing tips, but it is possible that a significant proportion of Spitfires flew without them as the war progressed and the air war was conducted at lower altitudes.

Golden Gardenia is a species of flowering small tree in the family Rubiaceae, native to Asia. It is a small tree, growing to a height of 2–4 m (6–12 ft) high with a spread of 1–2 m (3–6 ft). It prefers tropical conditions and will not tolerate temperatures below freezing. (Wikipedia)

We came across this lovely tree several times during our travels in Singapore. The bright colour and interesting shape of the flowers attracted my attention each time.

The red-billed oxpecker (Buphagus erythrorhynchus) is a passerine bird in the starling and myna family, Sturnidae; some ornithologists regard the oxpeckers to be in a family by themselves, the Buphagidae. It is native to the savannah of sub-Saharan Africa, from the Central African Republic east to South Sudan and south to northern and eastern South Africa. Its range overlaps that of the less widespread, yellow-billed oxpecker.

The red-billed oxpecker nests in tree holes lined with hair plucked from livestock. It lays 2–5 eggs, with three being the average. Outside the breeding season it forms large, chattering flocks.

The preferred habitat is open country, and the red-billed oxpecker eats insects. An adult will take nearly 100 engorged female Boophilus decoloratus ticks, or more than 12,000 larvae in a day. The red-billed oxpecker feeds on ticks found on other animals.

However, their preferred food is blood, and while they may take ticks bloated with blood, they also feed on it directly, pecking at the mammal's wounds to keep them open to more parasites.

This is a medium-sized passerine, 20 cm long with strong feet. The red-billed oxpecker has plain brown upperparts and head, buff underparts and a pale rump. The bill is red, and adults have a yellow eye ring. Its flight is strong and direct, and the call is a hissy crackling trik-quisss. – Wikipedia

I actually prefer this picture over the first.

Since thistles prefer warm and sunny locations, they cope very well with poor soil and drought.

Thistles include a variety of genera. Thanks to their expressive appearance, the various thistles can be easily combined with other perennials.

It's not just the thistle flowers that are extraordinary. The seed heads are also a real eye-catcher in the flower bed in winter.

Flowering thistles are real insect magnets and are therefore an important source of food. In winter, birds enjoy the seeds from the inflorescences.

Thanks to their unusual flowers, thistles are also suitable for great flower arrangements.
