The village of Col belongs to the municipality of Mel, in the province of Belluno, region Veneto (Italy).
The Valbelluna is the widest and most populous valley of the province, which is bordered by the Venetian Prealps. Col, is near The National Park of Belluno Dolomites.

Passo San Boldo: compie cent'anni la strada costruita in cento giorni dagli Alpini
„Sin dall’epoca romana il Passo di San Boldo è stato uno dei valichi di comunicazione più importanti tra la pianura trevigiana e la Valbelluna, ma fino al 1800 era poco più di una mulattiera. Per agevolare il passaggio furono costruite delle passerelle e all’inizio del Novecento l'idea di una vera e propria strada cominciò a diventare realtà. Le difficoltà relative alla realizzazione del progetto erano date dagli ultimi ottocento metri verso la cima, ostruiti dalle rocce che impedivano il transito. Trecento metri di dislivello, un'insenatura con i pendii a strapiombo ed una valle larga solamente 70 metri. Solo dalla fine del febbraio del 1918, dopo Caporetto, gli austroungarici della IV armata porteranno a compimento l’opera di collegamento. Furono impiegati circa settemila operai fra militari, civili e prigionieri che riuscirono, sotto la guida del progettista colonnello Nikolau Waldmann e del direttore dei lavori Frantisek Krusina, a compiere l’impresa in appena cento giorni. Un’opera frutto di ingegno, fatica e sacrificio anche della popolazione locale che ricorda a tutti noi i fatti d’arme della Prima Guerra Mondiale.“

Lo stelo di Anacamptis morio, piccola, deliziosa orchidacea comunemente denominata "giglio caprino", è sbilanciato. Esso sembra inclinato a causa di un peso eccessivo che grava alla sommità del suo stelo. E in effetti un piccolo ortotteto, un grillo di prato, si è posato su uno dei suoi fiori. E' tuttavia soltanto una impressione, perché il peso effettivo dell'insetto è lievissimo e l'orchidea non si è neppure accorta dell'estmporaneo ospite ..... ..

Storm Vaia was a strong Mediterranean storm that occurred between October and November 2018, with hurricane-level wind gusts and heavy rains, which caused flood damage and wind crashes in France, Italy, Croatia, Austria and Switzerland.

DISCESE E SALITE.
L’attrattiva di questo itinerario è senza dubbio lo straordinario panorama che si può ammirare dal Monte Cesen all’estremo delle Prealpi Trevigiane. Le discese sono veloci e in alcuni tratti si dovrà procedere a piedi soprattutto risalendo il sentiero di Casera Forcona. Non mancano i tratti in sterrato, ma bisogna fare attenzione al sentiero che scende verso Pianezze, ripido, tecnico e sconnesso: qui la veduta sulle colline di Valdobbiadene sarà allo stesso tempo scenografica e vertiginosa.

Lower Lagarina Valley 20231031
Lagarina Valley (Italian: Vallagarina, German: Lagertal) is a valley in northern Italy, used to define the lower mountain course of the Adige River. It is mostly included in the province of Trentino, with the lower section being part of the province of Verona. The largest town is Rovereto.
The upper limit of the valley is generally set at the so-called "Murazzi", north to Besenello and about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south to Trento. Above this it is known as Val d'Adige. The lower limit is the entrance in the Padan Plain, near the Chiusa di Ceraino.
As with the Val d'Adige, the Vallagarina is of glacial origin. Orographically, it separates the Brescian and Gardesane Prealps to the west from the Venetian prealps to the east.
The valley is home to several forts built by the Austrian Empire in the 19th century and older castles, such as Castle of Avio which dates to the 11th century.
In the locality Lavini di Marco, near Rovereto, are several dinosaur footprints attributed to the genera Camptosaurus and Dilophosaurus. The same locality is mentioned by Dante in his Inferno.

Evening at our camp near the edge of the high plateau of the Vercors Massif in the French Prealps. The fall from the plateau to the surrounding areas is between 800 metres (2,600 ft) and 1,200 metres (3,900 ft). The Vercors Massif is referred to as a natural fortress and served as the base for an uprising against the German occupation by the Maquis du Vercors, French Forces of the Interior resistance (maquis) that fought the German occupation of France in World War II. On 3 July 1944 the Free Republic of Vercors was proclaimed. To deal with this uprising, on July 21 1944 the Germans launched the largest operation ever conducted against the Resistance in Western Europe, attacking with airborne and mountain troops to destroy these insurgent groups. Memorials can be found at battle sites throughout the Vercors Massif. The photo is a panorama stitched from 5 vertical pictures.
