Une mante et sa proie, piégés par la rosée, attendent que le soleil les sortent de leur torpeur.

A mantis and its prey, trapped by the dew, wait for the sun to bring them out of their torpor.

Une vraie surprise de voir cette mante, dans le jardin, un 21 novembre !

A real surprise to see this mantis, in the garden, on November 21 !

Another macro of this unique, intersting and beautiful insect. My favourite insect !

This morning, I decide to go to a field with a pond, near my home. I don't already find many dragonflies this year, but I know that in this area there are some. Alas, the field has just been mown. So I go to a nearby wasteland and there I come across several small praying mantises. I have the impression that in the absence of a butterfly, this year, I will feast on mantises!

I was rather delighted to find this guy on the deck - it was the first I've ever seen one around the house, and I've long wanted to get a mantis portrait.

Totem ~ maybe. I took many shots of this Praying Mantis and the point of this shot is the face of the insect. However, I left the long shot just to show the way the insect just held on and said, 'hey what you got?" ish. Feel free to zoom in and take a look at the face.

This handsome fellow was hanging out on a flowering MUM plant watching me as I cleaned out the water fall. He was a real poser......

I have no idea what kind of praying mantis this is.

He was so tiny (around 5 mm) and active that I had difficulty focusing in him, so the quality leaves a little to be desired. Still, I find him enchanting and stopped short of deleting him!

Praying mantis.

A particular insect almost belonging to another Planet.

It has many meanings, but one above all is that many see this insect as a sign of deeper peace, quiet and the embodiment of meditation.

That is a good omen!

Found this praying mantis on the top of our block fence enjoying the warm afternoon sun.
