A practice test shot of the full sun with my Tiffen 95C ND 18 Stop Solar Filter.
I am getting ready for the total solar eclipse event coming up on April 8th. I will be heading down to Texas for that, so I can get into the path of totality.
The last full eclipse happened in my state of Oregon back in August 21, 2017. I was simply awestruck at the site of it, so I just had to make a trip down to see it again. It will be the last full solar eclipse I will see in my life time!
When young osprey are learning to fly they exaggerate their moves especially when they land. This is a learning curve for them but great opportunities for us as photographers. This guy made three attempts to get to this nest until he finally figured it out.

Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018
The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.
The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services
The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

My second proper attempt at star trails. Just a quick one of 60 odd 20S exposures to practice the technique. Taken over my local park while taking the dog for a run : )
Camera was controlled by an open source app on my smartphone and a small device built to link the two together, effectively allowing me to use my phone as an intervolometer.
