About

I've put a 'CANON 70-200mm f/4L USM Lens' on lay buy, so I thought I'd do some practice shots at around 70mm with my trusty kit lens!

I don't plan on using the new glass for landscapes, but there will be sometimes when I will, and I want to challenge myself to work within this focal length, tighter crops etc

- ISO 100, f9, 1/320, 70mm

- Canon 75-300 Kit lens.

- Tripod.

Processing

- Off camera.

- 'Landscape' calibration in Lightroom 2.2.

- A small 'photoshopped' bird for a bit of fun, (bird shots are taken at same location).

Cause ya know... it's the last day of September. :P

Heavy winter rains create seasonal creeks that cascade down hillsides in unexpected places. This one was off OR-99 south of Oregon City.

With the recent onset of true, winterlike temperatures in our area, the thistle sock has seen an increase in activity. Seems there's at least one or two Goldfinches on it whenever I look outside.

However, on this rather rainy day, while doing some birdwatching, I noticed there were lots of Goldfinches on the thistle sock, so I grabbed a shot before they flew off. I caught eight of them in this shot.

As we await the arrival of Winter Storm Ezra tomorrow, it's a good thing the Goldfinches were practicing their clinging and sharing skills, as those skills may be put to the test over the next two days.

And yes, there's a squirrel photobomber in the background, scarfing up the whole peanuts I'd tossed out earlier.

"Practice makes perfect". When not deployed, Tier 1 operators from the Special Operations Group spend countless hours on the range to perfect their shooting.

Practicing for the Art Festival show!

Methinks yesterday’s HS sailing team’s practice was partially how to recover from heeling over (is that the correct term?) Also I think I need to bring my BGC to the lake, too

Can't wear this yet under "combat" conditions--too wintry out! But at least I can see if it works or not.

The actual training here had to do with rescuing people from cars swept away due to flash floods. This is the instructor from Northern Virginia.

One more pic below with the following description: Mr. Zoom and I took a nice bike ride down to what is usually the rocky part of the river yesterday. Because of the rains from the remnants of Hurricane Hanna, the water was high. Goochland County was taking advantage of the rushing water to train their new Swift Water Rescue Team.

Just practising my vocals so i can wish you all a fantastic day

Comments and critiques welcome (-;

This is another one of the "gone wild" experiments my friends. And I was thinking to call it: "Going up, and up, and up", but decided for the one above after all. I find it funny looking, and what is a better way to start the week than with fun? Enjoy your day and the week ahead :D

BTW, I am with a normal length - 1.75m or 5.9 ft {{{HUGS}}}

Santander has one of the most recognized schools in the world of sailing in Spain.

It is vibrant to see the activity on land and the "dribbling" in the sea of all kinds of boats.

This owlet wasn't quite ready to leave the nest. Here he is exploring the top of the dead tree which contains the nest, and practicing for his first flight, which would occur two days after this image was taken. Eagle Creek Park. So I see these 3 (I think) big birds in the sky, kind of dive-bombing each other - I thought they were turkey vultures at first as I've watched the vultures play like that. Nope, Red-tailed hawks. I think, probably, they were juveniles working on their flight skills in the afternoon wind. What a thrill, not to mention challenge, as I stopped my car when I saw them, on a no-stopping side street, and hung my 500 out the window. A little flight practice for me too. Honestly, it felt like a real honor to witness.
