About
I've put a 'CANON 70-200mm f/4L USM Lens' on lay buy, so I thought I'd do some practice shots at around 70mm with my trusty kit lens!
I don't plan on using the new glass for landscapes, but there will be sometimes when I will, and I want to challenge myself to work within this focal length, tighter crops etc
- ISO 100, f9, 1/320, 70mm
- Canon 75-300 Kit lens.
- Tripod.
Processing
- Off camera.
- 'Landscape' calibration in Lightroom 2.2.
- A small 'photoshopped' bird for a bit of fun, (bird shots are taken at same location).
Heavy winter rains create seasonal creeks that cascade down hillsides in unexpected places. This one was off OR-99 south of Oregon City.
You practice with your trumpet don't ya?
You practice your guitar till your fingers bleed.
Why?
Because if you're not an idiot you wanna give a wonderful performance with the camera.

Taken at the same time as my 'Blowin in the Wind' shot. This is just a little further down the hill. Since I fixed my camera I have been thinking about my photography differently. Whilst I realise that my camera skills have improved, I still have a lot to learn about seeing a shot in my mind and quickly capturing it. John Free's video uploads have kept me motivated in practicing and improving what I do here.
**this shot didn't have the great light as the previous one shown below. This scene is in a dip, when we drive through here we always lose phone signal, it's a communication black hole! The light is softer and more subdued, giving a more gentle scene. I like this shot, however it has undergone multiple revisions and I'm still not 100% about it.

With the recent onset of true, winterlike temperatures in our area, the thistle sock has seen an increase in activity. Seems there's at least one or two Goldfinches on it whenever I look outside.
However, on this rather rainy day, while doing some birdwatching, I noticed there were lots of Goldfinches on the thistle sock, so I grabbed a shot before they flew off. I caught eight of them in this shot.
As we await the arrival of Winter Storm Ezra tomorrow, it's a good thing the Goldfinches were practicing their clinging and sharing skills, as those skills may be put to the test over the next two days.
And yes, there's a squirrel photobomber in the background, scarfing up the whole peanuts I'd tossed out earlier.
"Practice makes perfect". When not deployed, Tier 1 operators from the Special Operations Group spend countless hours on the range to perfect their shooting.
Talk about bad life choices. I should have sacked Service Delivery and been a Vet!
Playing with kittens beats sitting on my ass.
I'm so disappointed though that it's not pin-point focus.
So what's I like about this is seeing how time spent on the lilac kitty shows compared to the brown one. I need to fine-tooth combe her outline in much more detail to soften the edges.

Methinks yesterday’s HS sailing team’s practice was partially how to recover from heeling over (is that the correct term?) Also I think I need to bring my BGC to the lake, too
Can't wear this yet under "combat" conditions--too wintry out! But at least I can see if it works or not.
The actual training here had to do with rescuing people from cars swept away due to flash floods. This is the instructor from Northern Virginia.
One more pic below with the following description: Mr. Zoom and I took a nice bike ride down to what is usually the rocky part of the river yesterday. Because of the rains from the remnants of Hurricane Hanna, the water was high. Goochland County was taking advantage of the rushing water to train their new Swift Water Rescue Team.
This is another one of the "gone wild" experiments my friends. And I was thinking to call it: "Going up, and up, and up", but decided for the one above after all. I find it funny looking, and what is a better way to start the week than with fun? Enjoy your day and the week ahead :D

I'm not sure if you all are aware of Zoe's magical skills - she almost never allows me to take pictures of her in action, because I supposedly distract her. This time she made an exception, because the practice was easy enough that my presence didn't bother her. Zoe also told me that she's curently training for something really complex that she's never tried before... I'm really curious what it is, because her skills are quite advanced and I thought she could do all the tricks already!

I'm not 100% satisfied with how this photo came out but I'm not sure what's wrong, either, so I just left it this way. Any constructive criticism is welcome lol, I still have a lot to improve!
Today Little Hope and young Seele are working on the prefect wedding kiss for every one knows its the best part of the show!
"I love you," whispered Hope before giving Seele a small little kiss.
"I love you more," whispered Seele before Kissing Hope 2 more times.
"No... you might love me the same if you kiss me 5 more times," stated Hope Before Kissing Seele 3 more times.
Well as bad timing would have it a ring on little Hopes Sell phone came throw...
"Its Henrietta I really need to go spend time with her she dose not even know we are getting married yet," Explained Hope reading the texted on her little Fox Phone.
"Okay... but just one more kiss before you go?" asked Seele using his puppy dog eyes on her.
"I will see you later tonight we need to practice more kissing than," said Hope with a big smile on her face and Kissing Seele at least 4 more times.
Seele Watched as little Hope jumped off his Lap and darted throw the woods it always amazed him how she could disrepair in to the wood lands with such ease.
Will Henrietta be happy for Hope or Will she even know what it means to be Married?
Will Jose find out what the two little love birds have planned?
Or will they run away to Massachusetts were they let 14 year old boys and 12 year old girls get Married... With Judicial Consent.
(Working on projects. I like to keep about a thousand active projects going at once. Have to be careful to start a bunch more right when I’m about to finish one.)
That embroidered felt cloche I’m copying for Navia made me realize I needed to practice embroidery more. So how about some little headbands to match another project, and of course some matching embroidered boot spats??
It snowed, so that means I really want to get out the doll horses. The weather has been just too cold to do it, but that’s given me time to put together some country riding outfits?
