The Jumbos gather on the Butler University basketball court during their first practice of the weekend.
After being privileged to be invited along a friend's fashion photoshoot last month, this was one of the snaps of the day. Previously, I hadn't edited it much save from a few of colour corrections and some real basic skin retouching until just tonight.
After learning a few skin retouching and editing techniques over the last week, I was just practicing and managed to create this!
Competition Studs was raced a second time (instead of Bare Rubber) on Sundays this season. We still had Pro Street and Street Bare Rubber.
Last August, that's right back in 2011, I was able to spend an afternoon in the classrooms and studios of Ballet Philippines at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The teachers and the students were very gracious to allow me to photograph them during their class and practice sessions. It wasn't the first time for me to photograph dancers. However, it was my first time to photograph them during a class.
One of the sessions which I joined was an expression and improvisation class. It became a learning experience for me as I started to listen to the teacher's instructions and anticipate the next moves of the dancers.
Thank you again to Ballet Philippines, the principal dancers, the teachers and the students. Looking forward to photographing all of you again.

This is the first tiered cake I have ever done besides the Wilton one on pillars for class. I already see where I went wrong and made lots of notes. I do know I don't have any level areas in my kitchen. How sad is that? Freakin' builders! I need a smaller tip for the piping work and I need to use way less filling and use a thinner crumb coat. There will be more roses than that as well. I just wanted to see what it looked like with a few for the picture. I also need to space the piped design better. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you for looking.
Sketched quickly from the imagination (really just plop down the washes and let it go where it may). I'm using these to practice technique without getting "attached" to the work. I think I'll be doing quite a few of these for a while.

When we learn to see our world through grateful eyes,we find that the world we see is full of beauty and love
That's a quote from the Attitude of Gratitude project, a community page on Facebook where people post the many things they are grateful for. It is a real pleasure to read.
What are you grateful for today?
Practicing gratitude, say many experts, is one of the best routes to achieve real happiness and true inner beauty. Working on your attitude of gratitude can be a great way to energize yourself to start your day and a relaxing way to end it. Here are a few ideas culled from fellow bloggers who make gratitude a daily practice.
Gratitude journal
Take a bit of time each night before heading into dreamland to write down 5 things you are grateful for, especially the good things that happened that day. Your dreams may be sweeter!
Gratitude Rock
Carry around a rock in your pocket, one that fits comfortably in your hand. The idea is simple. Whenever my hand contacts the stone usually several times a day, I give thanks for whatever is happening at that moment, whether good or bad, wrote blogger Michael Hyatt.
Gratitude Beads
Tina Su suggests finding a necklace or set of prayer beads that you can use to count off your blessings each day. The simple act of counting can soothe your soul. paulpenders.com/2020/10/10/practice-gratitude/

Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018
The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.
The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services
The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).
