The iconic Jet d'Eau (water jet) pumps about 500 liters of lake water to an altitude of 140 meters (about 460 feet). The first Jet d'Eau was installed in 1886 as a safety valve for a hydro-power generator and could reach a height of about 30 meters(about 100 feet). Due to its perceived aesthetic qualities, it was moved to the current location in 1891 to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation.

The large one (a two man lift)was used at Kimberley Research Station from its early days to give access to the RFDS base at Wyndham, they were also used in most outback areas across Australia, this type used a 6v car battery but the earlier one had a pedal powered generator,a long conversation really did leave you breathless back then!

The smaller one (also quite heavy) was for portable use or out camps etc.

Tasting Britain got an invite to Mark Hix's Cock 'n' Bull Gallery / CNB Gallery to meet the fine people at Silent Pool Distillers. CNB Gallery lives underneath the rather East London, and rather hip Tramshed, on Rivington Street. For those who are unaware, the Tramshed is a restaurant that was once a power generator for the East End tram network (I didn't actually know there was a tram network but there you go). Now it focuses on casual dining (mainly stuff made with steak and chicken), and there you shall find Damien Hirstâs formaldehyde preserved cow and chicken, suspended from a high ceiling over the dining area. Itâsâ¦memorable, to say the least

Anyway, more about the gin: the Silent Pool Distillery, which was started by a group of friends, is located in Albury, Surrey - on the Duke of Northumberland's Estate, and the site of the Silent Pool. They claim itâs a sacred site, Iâm just not sure who holds it sacred. The Silent Pool has a bit of history and mystery about it. Much beloved of the poet Alfred Tennyson, itâs also thought to be haunted by the ghost of a woodcutterâs daughter, who drowned there trying to escape a man on horseback (possibly King John), sometime back in the 13th century. She can supposedly be seen at Midnight, perhaps waiting (in vain) for metaphysical closure?

Anyhow, they renovated what was a dilapidated farm, brought in a Holstein copper still and got cracking. The signature product is, obviously, the Silent Pool gin. Itâs a moreâ¦traditional tasting, juniper driven one, made up of 24 botanicals, and is the brainchild of Silent Poolâs master blender, Cory Mason (and his strong Victorian moustache). Cory holds an MSc from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling at Herriot Watt University in Edinburgh, and before he moved to the UK, used to work in New York managing various venues and making cocktails. Presumably he decided to up sticks and make GIN happen, and so here we are. The distillery is open seven days a week and people are welcome to come and visit (and I willâ¦)

As the whistle calls the young men back into their carrying positions, the mikoshi is lifted onto shoulders, the wooden rest horses are removed, then the quaking and shaking begin as they move forward in unison to carry the portable shrine through the city streets of nearby neighborhoods. One of the city workers trails behind with a gasoline powered generator connected to an illuminated, inflatable lighting dome that rests at the top of a collapsible pole.

As I crested a small riser on the backroad where I was releasing my car's pent up need to run, I spotted this flame hurtling into the air. I was awed by view of it reflected in the water, and the roar it was releasing.

It is burning off excess methane at a landfill, High Acres, which also runs methane powered generators and sells the electricity back to the grid.

Bob McCullough and Ken Compton from Zeus Power Systems are installing a wind power generator and solar panel. This set up will initially provide enough power to build Larry Turgeon's Flax Manufacturing building. It includes four batteries, an inverter, solar panel, and wind generator. The wind generator is placed on top of the post that can be easily lowered for testing and maintenance.

This is a picture of the old Tabor Mennonite Church in Goessel, Kansas taken about 1950. In the 1960s, this building was demolished after a new church was built immediately west of the current building (behind it).

Out back, you see three buildings. The left and right buildings are outhouses. The building in the middle housed a power generator. The outhouses were used until the new building was built. They still exist; they were moved across the road into the church park and are still used for storage.

I blogged about this picture back in 2005, and commented on what looks like paths out to the outhouses.

The date on the back of the photo is given only as "1950". We do not know in which month it was taken. Flickr required me to supply a month, so January is just a guess (it looks like winter from looking at the trees)

"Her thoughts float through my mind like an Angel on heavenly winds. Can't she see this, can't she hear the screams of my soul as the two of them reunited slowly fade to black in the night!"

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 23, 2018) - Students from Mayport Elementary’s Coastal Sciences Academy gathered at Mandarin Park today to celebrate the release of striped bass they raised themselves into the St. Johns River. The fifth-graders raised 450 fish from eggs to maturity in the academy’s JAXPORT-sponsored aquaculture ‘Labitat’.

The outdoor lab gives students hands-on experience learning about the St. Johns River and its wildlife, as well as the river’s effect on the local economy. The lab utilizes a JAXPORT-sponsored power generator that helps keep fish alive in the event of a prolonged power outage.

As an involved corporate citizen, JAXPORT sponsors and participates in numerous Northeast Florida community outreach programs focused on education.

Predicted to generate about 7000 kWh in a year. We are now a Small Power Generator, with our own mini-grid.

MEGATRO provides the Wind Power Generating Industry the most reliable, economical MET tower systems in the business. These wind towers are made from solid steel and welded by certified welders, which is the tower units for wind power turbine, applied with wind power Generator during wind power generation. It is the large diameter & thick steel pipe structure below the generator of a wind turbine that supports the turbine, houses the meters and wires, and keeps the turbine high above the ground level to protect the surrounding area and people from the force of the blades. It is also the main stressed components which need to be enough strength and rigidity to endure huge wind pressure and shearing forces. The base also serves to elevate the turbine above surrounding obstacles that could otherwise block the wind. The tower units are formulated to a large tube with a variety of accessories which include platforms, ladders, cable fixings, positioning of switchboard and so on.

Some of MEGATRO wind tower belong to sefl-support type, as same as taper monopole; MEGATRO's all welded design provides maximum tower stiffness, minimum twist/sway and bending.
