After about a month without any significant snow, a real storm is moving in today. While I love skiing fast on groomers, skiing powder is my favorite thing in the whole world. I'm looking forward to getting some snow on my face.

Looking through a bedroom doorway into one of the powder rooms/dressing rooms/makeup rooms (I have no idea what this room would be called) inside this farmhouse that was built in 1852.

People ask me the brand of this sink all of the time so I thought I'd write it here to save anyone who might be interested some time. I'm pretty sure it was called Vitraform and I can't find it anywhere any more. This poor sink is badly cracked now. Glass sinks and kids don't mix well.

I had to make a smaller version of the origami cat dress, and here it is worn by the pale Powder.

It finally started to snow again. Snowbird opens on Friday the 30th. A late start even though we had a few big storms early. I cant wait to get my shred on!!

It was nice and mild before the snow started this afternoon, so Scott and I packed Sock up and headed towards the dog park.

He was happy to play and chase all the other dogs, but he was super excited to chase his football when Scott brought it out.

One dog gave him a run for his money and did a good job of keeping Socko on his toes.

Snapped this just after he managed to get his toy back and was celebrating in the snow.

Hope everyone has had a good Saturday.

This is one of the original city gates, dating to the 11th century. It separates the Old Town from the New Town and 13 original city gates in Old Town. It gets its name from storing gunpowder in the 17th century.

This is an older shot I took a few seasons back. I was asked to rework it for a company that used it and decided to repost this version (as it nicely highlights the powder we consistently get in Niseko during the Season!).

The remains of a magazine at the bottom of the Hafan incline. The incline, which was built to transport lead ore from the mines here and Greywacke stone from the Hafan quarries, was a massive construction which starts at the left middle of the photo. At the bottom of the incline is the remains of Barberry's wheelpit, installed to pump out workings below the Hafan deep adit in 1853. It cost £200, and emptied a working reported to be 2.25 miles long. The tips from these workings can be seen in the right middle of the photo. There was also a leat, constructed by Michael Barberry, that can still (just) be traced to the wheel, although it is lost in forestry further to the east. There are ancient workings all over the hillside in the background.

The Plynlimon and Hafan Tramway started it's short-lived journey to Llandre from here.
