My Gran was a quirky, independant woman before her time. She got a divorce in the fifties and wore a bikini well into her 60s. She loved fashion and hated to spend money. Consequently, she would head to the Goodwill and seek out an ensemble that was out of asian vogue. She did not care what people thought. She was strong minded and willing to put up a fight to defend her most frivolous indulgences. I can picture her now, in the fast lane going 45 on the freeway and then getting into a residential area and remaining at 45 because she wanted to catch air over the speed bumps in her volkswagon hatchback.

Powder coating is cheap! It really turns out as well. We milled all of the bushings and a few other parts at home.

A powder blue tang at the aquarium we visited yesterday. Really hard to photograph the Tangs as they move fast. They are members of the surgeon fish family - so called as the spines they can extend at the tail end is likened to a scalpel!

Lots of overgrowth - but we couldn't get in.

Phagwah, or Holi, is the Indo-Caribbean Hindu celebration of the new year.
More parade and low tech info on my Phagwah set page.
This is just after the popping of the balloon. Interesting how the powder spreads. It part of what I did this test for to be honest. I've noticed this project get more and more sciency each week. It's really fun to do and experiment with.
I get reminded of a space nebula when I look at these :D maybe it's because I've been watching Wonder of the Universe too much, who knows!
I finally finished processing the photos from a band shoot I did a couple weeks ago, and I think they're going to like them! This was my favorite of the bunch. This was taken at Alviso Marina County Park, which is at the bottom of the San Francisco Bay.
The band is really worth checking out if you like rock, blues, and soul. They're recording an EP right now, I think, and they have some tracks up on their Myspace: www.myspace.com/powdertrain
I can't wait to do more band portraits. :)

Testing the new camera for work; one of our light fixtures we made in the last few months.
A 5' x 5' space with a commode, vanity, and 4' x 4' custom chandelier. Mirrored on three sides; highly polished marble on fourth wall and floor; polished stainless steel light fixture.
I have a flickr account for work where I will be much more specific regarding the project.
Here I'm just showing my flickr friends slices of my life.
The next couple of months are going to be ALL about work. Work work work. Like - that's it.
Which is PRECISELY what I've been saying out loud "life in my 40s" was going to be like, and *BOOM* here's the proof.
My photostream is going to reflect this orientation.
