CA Scrub-jay thinks my front yard is his own...flying in, making a ruckus and scaring all the others birds away.

Taken at the Lochwinnoch RSPB reserve in Scotland, I love the quizzical posture of this beautiful Goldfinch. On of my best captures of this beautiful little, but fast moving, bird. To enjoy the shot in full screen press 'L'.

This Male Wheatear was fighting with another male at the base of this drystone wall, literally rolling around in the grass, behaviour that I have not witnessed before.

After the fight this male flew to the top of the wall and the other bird flew off.

This one fanned out its tale and was calling constantly and was strutting his stuff on top of the wall for about a minute.

I can only think the other male had strayed into this ones territory and then was duly sent packing with its tail between its legs.

It was an amazing spectacle to watch.

After the rain, the Grackles were back out in force, gobbling up the soggy remains of the Goodie Bowls.

They have been here for a few weeks now, eating everything in sight with their voracious appetites. I'm ready for them to leave now as they are eating me out of house and home but even so, sometimes their antics are amusing to watch.

Pretty and has great posture. Made me smile.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.

I opted for a silhouette shot to tell the story here, with this old man and his unusual gait as he shuffled across the street. I loved the shape that his body and shadow made against the negative space with so many other people walking 'normally'. Enjoy full screen by pressing 'L'.

The obelisk posture is a handstand-like position that some dragonflies and damselflies assume to prevent overheating on sunny days.

The cattle egret is a stocky heron with an 88–96 cm (34+1⁄2–38 in) wingspan; it is 46–56 cm (18–22 in) long and weighs 270–512 g (9+1⁄2–18 oz). It has a relatively short, thick neck, a sturdy bill, and a hunched posture. The nonbreeding adult has mainly white plumage, a yellow bill, and greyish-yellow legs.

During the breeding season, adults of the nominate western subspecies develop orange-buff plumes on the back, breast, and crown, and the bill, legs, and irises become bright red for a brief period prior to pairing. The sexes are similar, but the male is marginally larger and has slightly longer breeding plumes than the female; juvenile birds lack coloured plumes and have a black bill.

The robins are in to full territorial battling. I have definitely at least 6. My wee one that feeds from the hand is still here and quite often I end up with a battle royal on my hand! Anyway this guy was engaged in a posturing battle along this wall with the steam from the melting frost rising up the sunny side. Great to have sun (and also a chance to lift my head from my books. My law degree has really ramped up this year!)

A second visit to photograph the Kingfishers at the end of April. The day started overcast with very light rain. But the brightened up slightly.

The male Kingfisher took up this Alert posture as a bird of prey flew high over the stream..

Only the male Kingfisher was seen throughout the day. But it was returning regularly to catch fish where it would dive and catch a fish for itself and then dive and catch a second fish before flying off.

I love to shoot big birds with different postures, as if they’re fashion models. This is a painted stork.

I was sitting lower yesterday to try and capture mating stilts from a different angle. A pair of pintails warily passed by and for a moment he posed for me.

Thank you so much for visiting my photo to comment or favorite. I do appreciate it so much!! :)

That Sunday, I was driving when suddenly - between building blocks, I perceived that warm sunset light... I carelessly stopped the car by the side of the road, and ran towards the lake's edge. It was like as you see. Just could take a couple shots (loved the meditative posture of the lady to the right of the image) before the sun quickly disappeared behind the horizon...

Love those unpredictable precious moments!

Usually no slouch, I got a chuckle out of Jasper's posture in this shot. Ottoman Emperor indeed!

Great to see the posing and posturing today at Westhay before it clouded over, saw lots of 'stuff', just not a great day for photography... the forty mile an hour wind didn't help. :@D
