These two wild stallions were exchanging postures in a stand off over who had the right to have his herd in the area. Sometimes it seems this is exactly the posture you see between humans.

This Mute Swan, in a typical aggressive posture, found some open water at Lake St. Clair Metropark last winter.
Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (Nyctanassa violacea). Japanese Garden, Hermann Park, Houston, Texas. Too much sake, maybe?
A golden oldie from way back in 2009 that has sat in my photo collection waiting for the software to come along that could refine it as it was ever so slightly out of focus and taken in low light, with the shutter speed just 1/60th second. I’ve taken quite a few Kingfisher photos since then but I still think this is my best with the background really making it stand out.
This male Kingfisher was a regular visitor to the same spot one winter. I have the local children to ‘thank’ for the alert posture rather than the standard hunched look you often see in pictures. This was the last shot before the noise of a shopping trolley being chucked into the water not far away saw him clear off !
Tenía enfocado al macho de Onychogomphus costae y de momento curvó el abdomen con esta postura tan curiosa y deduzco que está limpiando con la pata trasera derecha algún resto de suciedad.

He had focused on the male of Onychogomphus costae and for the moment he curved his abdomen with this curious posture and I deduce that he is cleaning some dirt with his right hind leg.
