Our design studio Brasilia Prima (www.brasiliaprima.com.ar), Buenos Aires, Argentina, will be 5 years old at the same time that the city of Brasilia, Brazil, will be turning 50 years old.
We see this as a great coincidence!
From this side of the world, as a neighbor country to Brazil, we were drawn to and marveled by the sumptuous and organic architecture by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, who built that city -among others- from scratch.
Thinking about this nice coincidence, we would like to honor such an inspiring work as much as we'd like to celebrate ourselves on our happy birthday.
Therefore we want to invite YOU, as well as other designers from all over the world, like the people who travelled to Brasilia 50 years ago to help building it, to get inspired by those layouts, by those curvy lines with a sense of freedom, by the charming of dreaming, and why not by daydreaming and sharing.
THE PROJECT
50 designers will pay homage to the city of Brasilia and the legacy of Oscar Niemeyer.
Design of a poster (A3 format, 29.7 x 42 cm)

For my latest process pieces for Design Cuts, we’re going to have fun creating some inspirational posters!
These posters will show you some great ways to work with the 22 fonts available as part of this week’s bundle, walking you through some basic typographic principles, more advanced text functionality, as well as various other handy design techniques.
Let’s get started!
The final Occupy Sandy Relief NYC poster we designed to help spread the word and grow the relief effort!
Hello everybody! Simon here. In order to properly celebrate Design Cuts’ first birthday, what’s better than an anniversary poster?
The 22 deals that are part of the birthday craziness include thousands of design elements to choose from. We ought to be able to create something fun, impactful, and visually pleasant by hand-picking an harmonious selection out of the bunch.
So, what’s the plan? We’ll use textures, vector elements, and typefaces to craft a British-themed commemorative poster. We have to celebrate the roots of Tom, Darren, Tina, and Steph somehow, right? I mean, the British accent makes everything better anyway: better detectives (Sherlock), better secret agents (007), and now, better design resources.
The tutorial will walk you through the various steps I took to assemble the various resources into a visually coherent ensemble. With that in mind, let’s get to it, shall we?

Hasana represents a luxury, lifestyle brand with great accessories and handbag designs for the fun, classic and feminine girl of today. The Hasana Collection has clean, happy and bright colors, inspired by the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao.
And guess what is sooo wonderful about the Hasana line?... You don't have to feel guilty about splurging on great, designer jewelry, because 100% of the proceeds of the sales from the Hasana collection directly benefits The Apareció Foundation (a nonprofit organization that raises funds towards educational grants and program for low-income, high-potential Chicago Public High School female students). Every penny. Every dollar. Benefiting education.
There were several projects that I got to oversee, design, and guide the overall art direction to Hasana's marketing materials — a 16-page LookBook highlighting nine different collections of jewelry, the website is in development, but pages are still in development, Event Posters for the launch party, and 9 different informational cards defining the inspiration and designer for each collection of Hasana. I wish I could take credit for the photography, too, but these stunning images were taken by Amaris Granado (amarisgranado.com).

An announcement invitation for The Apareció Foundation, a charity event that was hosted last month called Diamonds in the Rough which showcased the Hasana luxury jewelry & accessory line. The overall design of the invite reflected the name of the event. Beautiful gems of jewelry were showcased and juxtaposed against roughage of dried branches and foliage. The one-folded invited was printed on a pearlescent off-white paper to match the sunburst orange A2 envelope. Coincidentally, the iridescent paper also gave the jewelry that extra little sparkle especially to the teardrop crystal necklace on the front.
Technique: 4C/4C on Pearlescent Off-White, Heavyweight Paper

The LBi brief was a typography based brief and asked for a solution to make the LBi brand more prominent by creating a typography-based solution using any media. LBi, which stands for Lost Boys International is a worldwide company that creates advertising campaigns for various companies such as Sony and D&AD. For the brief, I decided that a poster would be an effective solution to the brief.
The poster design consists of an image in the middle of a white space of an image related to the text (heart, butterfly, missile, etc) the type which is an acronym of LBi is in the bottom right with a logo of LBi with a web address in the top left.
I feel that this design is successful in raising awareness of the LBi brand because they are an unusual an intriguing poster design that makes the viewer wonder what the poster represents as well as showing that Lost Boys International can create unusual and interesting advertising campaigns.

Hello all! I’m excited to share with you my first tutorial on the new version of the Design Cuts site.
It looks like a main theme within the modern creative design bundle is space. After Pam’s great ’80s, candy-flavored version, we will focus on a more contemporary and Sci-Fi vibe for our piece.
We will use the bundle’s content to create a poster with a slightly mysterious vibe for Galaxy Machine, a fictional up-coming movie directed by Duncan Jones, and starring Sam Rockwell, Sigourney Weaver, Bruce Willis, Sandra Bullock, Ethan Hawke, and Natalie Portman.
I created a poster set to be used for promoting a science center's astronomy exhibit. I also created the science center logo at the bottom. I used the shape of a Newton Pendulum to create a scientific feeling. I also shot the image used for the poster.
Tour poster for Swiss-Berlin sound artists Gilles Aubry and Antoine Chessex, and Valerio Tricoli from Palermo, Italy. Presented by swissnex San Francisco in conjunction with 23five Incorporated. Design by R. Yau.
