6x4lives challenge for January. Postcard to wish all my good friends a very "Happy New Year". The photo is poor - the felt is not really grubby!

Manchesters Gold Post Box well done team G.B.

Again, no long description. Like 'Open Water,' this is in the same style somewhat in addition to location. I'm also quite tired from all that writing and should save it for more significant photos anyway =P

What an afternoon! We did a lovely circular drive around the Lake District, and luckily I chose to do it an anti-clockwise direction. Our last stop was Derwentwater (at Keswick) where there was a glorious low-hanging mist - had we gone there first, earlier in the day, we would've seen nothing, as the town had been covered in thick fog which only lifted as the sun began to set.

Purported to the smallest post office in the US, it operated from 1878 and 1953. So named for all of the postmasters that worked there of the same name.

At one point it was moved to the top of Whiteside Mountain, in the background, but was eventually moved to its current location near Cashiers, NC after being restored.

A stop at Delft Bistro in Marquette, Michigan following the Queen City Half Marathon in July.

The bulk of this old fence post has rotted away leaving the inner structure of the tree from which it was cut on show.

The original post would have been 3" in diameter, this remaining core is a little under 2".

“ I’m walking alone through this isolated wasteland. Alone. Only me and the loneliness. A G-36, a MP3 player and a pair of mags: all I got.

Two weeks since that fucking day ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z7D4eRD6Cs ) . We were ten and now… God, it was awful. They appeared from nowhere, surprising us. We hadn’t time enough to react. All we could do was keeping the finger on the trigger and shooting them. It wasn’t enough. For each one we killed, two more arrived. Running, hiding and shooting we were falling. My mates shouted and I couldn’t do anything, I was impotent. One of them reached me; a pretty scar from it was given to me.

Now I’m listening to music, searching for a scope or a silencer, or whatever useful thing I can find. ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VlEdZyJMjU )

One moment….what the hell is that noise….?

Fuck…

Seems to be a difficult time in 3, 2, 1…”

Barney looking out over his kingdom, whilst sitting on top of the trig point at the summit of the Worcestershire Beacon. For a short time at least, he was the highest pooch in the whole of county. The pillar is too tall and too narrow for him to jump up easily by himself, so I picked him up and sat him on there. Being a dog who appreciates a good view, or rather a dog who likes to be up high and keep a very sharp eye on all people, dogs, rabbits, birds and anything else that might be moving across the surrounding land, Barney was quite happy to remain on his perch while I took photos :)

I don't know who'd caught his attention here but they were clearly interesting because I have lots of pics of him gazing intently to the left! He didn't try to leave his post - preferring to spy from a distance. Barney's a nosy dog but often sneakily so (he'd be a curtain twitcher if he was human). He rarely runs up to, or investigates strangers openly (unless they're sitting down to a picnic!). Barney leaves passers-by disappointed - they stick out their hands and he just slides past them in a smooth and fast paced trot, appearing to utterly ignore them. Really though, he always gives people a searching glance, a sniff, a quirk of the ear, an inspection from a distance and he always knows just where everyone is, whether they're in the "pack" or just in the vicinity.

It's a good job Barney remains slightly shy of strangers, observing them keenly from afar because once he knows you as a friend he turns into the soppiest, bounciest, most overenthusiastic mutt around, ridiculously grateful for the slightest attention. He'll clamber all over you, licking, pawing, nuzzling, or collapse in a squirming heap of fur and legs at people's feet, so they can't move without falling over. Once he's got over the initial suspicious curtain-twitching stage, he goes from aloof to intense cuddler very fast (you've been warned)! He has an excellent memory for those who've been nice too... I recently met up with a friend who we hadn't seen for months. Barney greeted Lou off the train with the "happy dance" he reserves for those he likes, was a complete baby around her - most definitely recognized her - despite only having met Lou once before and that over 1/2 a year ago!

From my visit to AZ. I got to crash a figure drawing session and sit in with my old mentor and friends. This was about 40 minutes. Not so happy with the proportions or color choices here, but figured I'd post anyway.

For a fun interlude, this is a close-up/headshot image based off one of my more popular pics posted here on flickr in the last year+. This particular image was generated with the help of the FaceApp application, where I took a photo of a close-up of the "1992-August pic3" pic I've posted here. Then I just applied a filter in FA in part to help with the graininess of this close-up - and to have some fun with the look... :-)

Getting missy up Friday VERY early, and making HEr report for maid service. Cleaning up extreme messes in the homes (and especially kitchens!) of two client houses after Thanksgiving day. I was so overly generous giving her Thursday off!!

My Danxia Landform pix are shared in the Italian News "il Post".
