Post Cards Excel As An Advertising and Selling Tool
REASON NO. 1 ~ POST CARDS COMMAND ATTENTION!
“Pretty as a picture post card” is an accepted American axiom! It’s like “magic”. Post cards command and receive attention far in excess of any other mailing piece. This “attention-getting” poser means selling power!
REASON NO. 2 ~ DOUBLE AND TRIPLE SELLING POWER!
“Too pretty to throw away” ... post cards are read first, saved and read again and probably again. You will find post cards under glass on desks, pinned on bulletin boards and kept in the “in-basket” for weeks or months! This means double, triple or more selling power ... because the picture is viewed and the message read time and time again!
REASON NO. 3 ~ CONCISE TO-THE-POINT MESSAGE SELLS!
The limited message area on post cards can be an advantage ... the message must be concise and the chances are the short, straight forward message, without the fluff of unneeded verbiage will do a better selling job. It’s a proven advertising principle .. sell one idea at a time. Try to sell everything plus the kitchen sink at one time and you sell nothing!
REASON NO. 4 ~ LOW COST PLUS EFFECTIVE SELLING!
Compared to even a simple two color letterhead and envelope, the initial cost of a full color post card will probably be less. When it comes to selling, it’s a fact, a letter can’t begin to compete with a full color picture and a short effective copy message! The cost difference between more elaborate mailing pieces is overwhelming in favor of full color post cards!
REASON NO. 5 ~ ONE-THIRD LESS POSTAGE COST!
Post cards under 4-1/4” X 6” go first class at the post card rate, on average, of 1/3rd less than regular first class mail. It is a savings that could be used to mail 50% more cards. With today’s high postage costs, this savings is important.
REASON NO. 6 ~ FAST AND EFFECTIVE CORRESPONDENCE!
Acknowledgements, confirmations, shipping dates, reminders and a host of short messages can be quickly and easily typed or handwritten ... without secretarial help. It’s an acceptable personal message that will command attention over email and at the same time sell the product or service pictured on the card ... what more could be asked?
REASON NO. 7 ~ IDEAL FOR ENCLOSURES AND HANDOUTS!
There couldn’t be a better letter enclosure ... the full color picture illustrates and tells a story equal to 1,000 words ... it adds visual impact to enforce the letter’s word message! As a stuffer, with all envelope mailings, it will add big sales potentials. The low cost of post cards makes them perfect for volume handouts at trade shows rather than expensive brochures or catalogs.

a handmade post card that has all different colors, sprays of different colors of textures, and strips of a real very thin photograph, a flat black and white photo, 2 discs of dictionary type words and gorgeous blues from the other author of the book Good Mail Day!
He wrote this for his sister, my Grandma. The stamp is missing! My father was a stamp collector :- )
