Position: This photo was taken on the coast of Antalya, Turkey.

Saturday, several of us are gathered at Commonwealth Lake (at safe distancing), waiting for the osprey. Finally, one showed up, and did take the strike position a few times, but never took a dive.

Hi everyone... I want to give your wonderful guys and gals an update... although I still struggle with chronic pain on a daily basis, some days are better than others. I still cannot shoot like I was used to... stooping, bending over, sitting on the ground, etc as is necessary to shoot macro, still isn't possible for me. For now, I must be content to (re)edit and (re)publish shots in my archives.

If you are in a position to help, I have setup an account to accept donations, even as little as the price of a coffee. Anything would be greatly appreciated. See my "About" page on Flickr for the link. Thank you. www.flickr.com/people/jax_chile/

Ballerinas have nothing on this bird! I can watch these Common yellow Leg Sandpipers for hours. I love their slender legs and long necks as they stride purposely in the low tide.

I think they look like dancers ... acrobatic and swift. When flying they extend their legs beyond their tails - gorgeous.

I think this is the 5th position, anyone??

Hoping all is well.

I shot this last November in Destin, FL as the sun set over the ocean. I stumbled across it in my archives as I was searching for something to post.

Happy Caturday~ Looking on the Bright Side

When a cat is playing or frightened, they try to make themself look as big as possible. A stiff-legged hopping gait often accompanies this puffing out of their fur.

Jerri often assumes this pose when playing with Oscar, much to our amusement and delight!

I positioned this bright white Clematis to cheer up a dark corner in the garden. It has turned out to be quite stunning !

Dedicated to Davide Cherubini, Andzer, Roccesarde and all my dear Flickr friends.......... thanks for 24.756 views on my photostream (wow!!!)

These Sandhill Cranes are coming into a field nearby so we see more wing positions. Normally they fly 300-400 miles per day and follow the wind currents at an altitude of 3-5000 ft above ground. Using the tailwinds there is not as much need to constantly flap but do so when coming down or climbing up – they are like other fowl using the wings to control the flight.

Unfortunately, I was not able to see this guy pupate. It happened in the wee hours of the morning when I was still snug in my bed. However, there is a beautiful Chrysalis hanging from this leaf now. I’ll post that picture tomorrow. Good luck on your transformation Monarch!

RKO_3082-2. A nice wildebeest at the water meadows in Amboseli National park, Kenya. Despite the water at the meadows, many wildebeest and zebra died as the grasses they eat didn't grow due the lack of rain.

Italia, Toscana, Nozzano Castello, Estate 2021

The Castle of Nozzano is a medieval castle that was an outpost of the Lucca defensive system. A position of great strategic importance, straddling the heatedly contested border between Lucca and Pisa. Originally, the structure was in wood and it was first destroyed by Pisa twice. It was rebuilt for the last time in 1395. The current building dates back to this reconstruction. The castle was used until the late 1500s to control the boats along the Serchio river, then its strategic and military importance declined.

Earlier i posted this drone shot (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/42514739985/in/photol...) from the Noordwaard. The Noordwaard is an area that has been reconstructed a few years ago as part of a large project in the Netherlands that is called Room for the River (www.ruimtevoorderivier.nl/english/). All large rivers and their floodplains have been excavated in order to store more water when there is a risk of over-flooding the cities that lie adjacent to the rivers. In case of the Noordwaard the waters get lower with 30 cm's.

Was the earlier picture taken in a very dry season, this is the result (for the first time in 5 years) with high waters. The system works perfect. I took the picture in almost the same position, only the sun was straight in the lens, and I admit I prefer the earlier shot. But it is nice to show both the two.

Positioned deep within the frame, perfectly splitting the mid-ground and background, the frog is draped in tiny patches of duckweed, camouflaging him into the swampy carpet. In the distance, the scene is framed by weathered, moss-covered logs, adding a rustic texture to the soft, aquatic environment.

As I was observing this Eurasian Hummingbird Hawkmoth, it occurred to me that it could be a female, overpositing onto the Valerians. Still awaiting confirmation from iNaturalist.
