When I think of the Rose City these days, something along the lines of this comes to mind.

I photographed Erika Nielson in a Kimono for her Hatachi portraits this past week. We shot at the Hoyt Arboretum in Portland and had a great time! I just loved the way the reds in her Kimono contrasted with the greenery in the forest. So pretty!

Lots more on my blog - like always!

Skies clear after a prolonged spell of torrential rain on Portland island, Dorset. Inevitably, puddles have formed, which I use to my advantage. The beam of the lighthouse appears twice: in the sky and in the water. Nikon D800, Nikkor 20/2.8.

After 43 years supporting Royal Navy RFA Gold Rover departs Portland for the final time. Picture: LPhot Barry Swainsbury

After 43 years supporting Royal Navy operations around the globe, RFA Gold Rover has reached the end of her lengthy and distinguished career.

Proudly flying her paying-off pennant, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship arrives in Portsmouth today ahead of her official end of service ceremony on Monday 6 March 2017.

It marks the end of four decades of service from the RFA tanker which has supported drugs busts, humanitarian relief missions and sea rescues in addition to her core role of replenishing the Royal Navy’s fleet.

The single hulled tanker makes way for the double-hulled RFA Tidespring and her three sisters – Tiderace, Tidesurge and Tideforce. Tidespring will formally enter service later this year.

The breed became very rare although there were always Portlands at Calke Abbey in Derbyshire, where a flock had been established in 1770.

We've not been to Weymouth & Portland for a while. When we left Poole today it was torrential rain, but in Portland it was lovely and sunny!

Decided to dust off the camera and see what the 'storms' were doing at Portland Bill yesterday.

Didn't need to dust off the camera as the strong winds and sea spray soon did its bit.

The wind was picking up so much spray that it was impossible to get a decent shot at 'The Pulpit' side so spent most of the afternoon slightly more sheltered.

Amtrak's Portland Extra is seen making one of it's 2 day a week runs between North Station and Southampton Street Yard. Here we see it passing Yawkey heading eastbound to South Station before going into Southampton Street Yard
