This photo of the Portland Harbor in Maine was taken while enjoying a lobster roll at the Portland Lobster Company on Commercial Street.
Portland is known for many things (unfortunately, it's been mostly negative recently), and one of those things is that Portlanders LOVE their bicycles. This is one of the many events that this city puts on and the enthusiasm is proudly shown here. The Hawthorne Bridge is in the background.
I took this photo when we were in Portland this past summer. The clouds were amazing!

Many ships have been sunk off the coast of Portland, Maine. The Portland Head Light stands guard making sure this doesn't happen again.
Taken from Abbotsbury Hill looking towards Portland. I was hoping for a gorgeous sunset but some clouds put an ending to that!!!

Portland Head Light is a historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The light station sits on a head of land at the entrance of the primary shipping channel into Portland Harbor, which is within Casco Bay in the Gulf of Maine. Completed in 1791, it is the oldest lighthouse in the state of Maine. The light station is automated, and the tower, beacon, and foghorn are maintained by the United States Coast Guard, while the former lighthouse keepers' house is a maritime museum within Fort Williams Park.

The Isle of Portland is a tied island, 6 kilometres long by 2.7 kilometres wide, in the English Channel. The southern tip, Portland Bill lies 8 kilometres south of the resort of Weymouth, forming the southernmost point of the county of Dorset, England. A barrier beach called Chesil Beach joins it to the mainland.
