Many ships have been sunk off the coast of Portland, Maine. The Portland Head Light stands guard making sure this doesn't happen again.
Taken from Abbotsbury Hill looking towards Portland. I was hoping for a gorgeous sunset but some clouds put an ending to that!!!

The garden was designed by Professor Takuma Tono, in 1963, one of the most important Japanese landscape architects of his time.
One evening a friend took me in to Portland OR to the Esplanade on the east bank of the Willamette river.. I was learning to make night shots and also trying to learn how to do HDR... This is one of the shots with a bit of work done on it... :-)

Portland Head Light is a historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The light station sits on a head of land at the entrance of the primary shipping channel into Portland Harbor, which is within Casco Bay in the Gulf of Maine. Completed in 1791, it is the oldest lighthouse in the state of Maine. The light station is automated, and the tower, beacon, and foghorn are maintained by the United States Coast Guard, while the former lighthouse keepers' house is a maritime museum within Fort Williams Park.

Whilst sorting out some files (as you do on a Friday evening), I came across an earlier version of this and wondered what it would like if I processed it now. I think I've learnt quite a lot in 7 years.
