A Royal Quiet Deluxe, I used in my youth. In one of those new fangled lightweight fiberglass carrying cases, weighs in and 16.6 lbs. Just about pulled out my shoulder carrying this thing.

This is basically an Oxygen gas mask, that we can use in an emergency, for example in the case of a fire or a toxic contamination of the ISS atmosphere.

A four tube portable made in Japan. Very similar to the Harpers GK-301, Aud-ion MPR-100, Orta and Crown PR-530 etc....All these radios have almost identical chassis.
Even though the solid state revolution was well under way by the late 1950's tube radios were still being made and sold as the technology was cheap and proven. Consumers were comfortable with the technology and the retail prices for tube radios were very affordable by this time.

The cabinet is made of a thermo-setting plastic.....Judging from the texture, weight and overall appearance I'd guess it is plaskon.

In North America during the 30's and 40's a standard five tube radio was called an AA5 (All American Five). I call these Japanese tube portables the AJ4 (All Japanese Four)
Below is a Kent MPR-100. It is an exact clone to this Imperial except for the cabinet and tuning dial color.

A portable toilet is a modern, portable, self-contained outhouse manufactured of molded plastic in a variety of colors and is often used as a temporary toilet for construction sites and large gatherings and events. Portable toilets are referred to colloquially or sold under such brands as port-a-john, PortaJane, job johnny, port-o-let, port-a-loo, sani-privy, port-a-san, porta-potty, tidy john, John To Go, Biff, toi-toi, J-Jon, P-Unit, and porta-kybo.
Portable toilets are large enough for a single occupant - usually about 90 cm (3 ft) on a side by 210 cm (7 ft). PortaJane is the only portable restroom exclusively for women, an industry first. While the units are typically free standing structures, their stability is augmented by the weight of the waste tank, which usually contains an empty liquid disinfectant dispenser and deodorizer. Some include both a seated toilet and a urinal. Most include lockable doors, ventilation near the top, and a stovepipe vent for the holding tank. Leaving the toilet lid open will reverse the flow of the venting of the tank.
Some newer models include toilet paper or, occasionally, antibacterial hand gel dispensers. It has become common for portable toilets to be paired with a portable hand washing station. These stations provide a foot pump to dispense water to wash one's hands after using the toilets. Soap and towels may be provided.
Though more expensive than a standard permanent outdoor latrine, portable toilets have several significant benefits mostly related to their portability. They are rented to customers by companies that guarantee their cleanliness, and so as a rule are drained, cleaned, disinfected, and deodorized on a regular basis. As they are not plumbed, they do not clog. A single portable toilet can be hauled in the back of a pick-up truck. An average portable toilet is able to hold enough sewage for 10 people during the course of a 40 hour work week before the hold reaches unsanitary conditions.
A disadvantage of portable toilets is that they can easily shake when the area on which they are set is not plain. It is also possible and sometimes done, that people shake portable toilets in order to shock the person in the cabin.
They are frequently seen at outdoor work sites, particularly construction sites, and large banks of dozens of portable toilets allow for ready sanitation at large gatherings such as outdoor music festivals.

The final Portable Portrait workshop of the season took place on Saturday, October 24th here in Nashua NH. We had a small group, and the all-day rain was actually a secret blessing, as it caused me to seek out new locations in Nashua, mainly in the form of public parking garages, which provided some serious inspiration, as well as some really crazy wall colors.
We had a small group, and we shot well into the evening.
I want to thank those who attended, and especially thank Rob F for being our model for the day - he totally kicked butt, and was more than happy when we started asking him to jump around! Fantastic guy. Fantastic model.
I also got some really great images that I can use for marketing for next years round of workshops.

It's meant to de-mistify the planning process and translate conceptual planning ideas like housing, public transportation open space into physical forms and thru this foster and facilitate public participation.

Taken nearby the presidents Atyrau residence during his recent visit - this generator was running, and feeding power in to the district substation. Atyrau has short, but fairly frequent power outages, so a backup generator is essential.
The driver, sat behind the red curtains in his KAMAZ looked bored out of his mind. The police, and plain clothed security guys wandering around were much more alert.
