This is basically an Oxygen gas mask, that we can use in an emergency, for example in the case of a fire or a toxic contamination of the ISS atmosphere.

A four tube portable made in Japan. Very similar to the Harpers GK-301, Aud-ion MPR-100, Orta and Crown PR-530 etc....All these radios have almost identical chassis.
Even though the solid state revolution was well under way by the late 1950's tube radios were still being made and sold as the technology was cheap and proven. Consumers were comfortable with the technology and the retail prices for tube radios were very affordable by this time.
Throughout this photostream you will encounter several Japanese tube radios like this.
The cabinet is made of a thermo-setting plastic.....Judging from the texture, weight and overall appearance I'd guess it is plaskon.

In North America during the 30's and 40's a standard five tube radio was called an AA5 (All American Five). I call these Japanese tube portables the AJ4 (All Japanese Four)
Below is a Kent MPR-100. It is an exact clone to this Imperial except for the cabinet and tuning dial color.

A portable toilet is a modern, portable, self-contained outhouse manufactured of molded plastic in a variety of colors and is often used as a temporary toilet for construction sites and large gatherings and events. Portable toilets are referred to colloquially or sold under such brands as port-a-john, PortaJane, job johnny, port-o-let, port-a-loo, sani-privy, port-a-san, porta-potty, tidy john, John To Go, Biff, toi-toi, J-Jon, P-Unit, and porta-kybo.
Portable toilets are large enough for a single occupant - usually about 90 cm (3 ft) on a side by 210 cm (7 ft). PortaJane is the only portable restroom exclusively for women, an industry first. While the units are typically free standing structures, their stability is augmented by the weight of the waste tank, which usually contains an empty liquid disinfectant dispenser and deodorizer. Some include both a seated toilet and a urinal. Most include lockable doors, ventilation near the top, and a stovepipe vent for the holding tank. Leaving the toilet lid open will reverse the flow of the venting of the tank.
Some newer models include toilet paper or, occasionally, antibacterial hand gel dispensers. It has become common for portable toilets to be paired with a portable hand washing station. These stations provide a foot pump to dispense water to wash one's hands after using the toilets. Soap and towels may be provided.
Though more expensive than a standard permanent outdoor latrine, portable toilets have several significant benefits mostly related to their portability. They are rented to customers by companies that guarantee their cleanliness, and so as a rule are drained, cleaned, disinfected, and deodorized on a regular basis. As they are not plumbed, they do not clog. A single portable toilet can be hauled in the back of a pick-up truck. An average portable toilet is able to hold enough sewage for 10 people during the course of a 40 hour work week before the hold reaches unsanitary conditions.
A disadvantage of portable toilets is that they can easily shake when the area on which they are set is not plain. It is also possible and sometimes done, that people shake portable toilets in order to shock the person in the cabin.
They are frequently seen at outdoor work sites, particularly construction sites, and large banks of dozens of portable toilets allow for ready sanitation at large gatherings such as outdoor music festivals.

Homebrew Portable Softbox in action
Simple tissue paper show flipped down to diffuse light form flash. Tissue paper can be wrapped and tucked around flash and held in place using a rubber band or tape.
Make an easy to build portable softbox
- cut a backing frame from a 1/2 gallon plastic milk jug
- shape the plastic to fit the rear of your flash, like a bounce card, narrow at the bottom and more flared out at the top
- line the front of the plastic with a reflective material. I used the shiny mylar material from a package of Nabisco oatmeal cookies. I attached the mylar using double-sided tape.
- tape down the edges of the mylar to the plastic using gaffers tape
- Attach the reflector to flash using rubber bands
- make a "flip down" diffuser using simple tissue paper or other diffusing material
The flash and portable softbox can be used on-camera or off-camera, One Light Strobist style.

This is the gear I lugged down to the Bahamas for the holidays. I borrowed a friend's HEQ5 (thanks Jackson!), and packed the head in a pelican case. The tripod went in a large bag, along with a 25' extension cord and single 11lb counterweight. In my carry-on luggage I squeezed my FSQ85, QSI583, laptop, and various adapters, power supplies and cables.
Not quite the lightweight, "portable" rig I had in mind!
