Spent one glorious late Summer/Autumn wandering Europe. Eurail Pass, no plans, no timetable, not much money... heaven. Stayed in Nice for a few days and took the local bus around the coast to Monaco.

Second Best "52 Weeks Project"

Since I have been joining the 52 Weeks Project on Flickr it has happened several times that I had to chose between two or more self portraits that week. A difficult choice. The solution is to create a set of all good alternatives. Life is full of choices and sometimes a week has too much opportunities. This is one of those alternatives, the second best. And sometimes just as good.

An afternoon well spent in la Principauté de Monaco...

Location: Viewpoint at the Place du Palais overlooking Monaco Monte Carlo and Port Hercule at altitude of 60 meters above sea level.

Reason: We spent an afternoon in Monaco the day after we hiked the Gorges du Verdon with colleagues of Thalys NL, B and F.

Monaco: Monaco, officially the Principality of Monaco (French: Principauté de Monaco), is a sovereign city-state, country and microstate but claimed by the Occitan nationalism, located on the French Riviera in Western Europe. France borders the country on three sides while the other side borders the Mediterranean Sea. Monaco has an area of 2.02 km2 and a population of about 38,400 according to the last census of 2016.

With 19,009 inhabitants per km², it is the second smallest and the most densely populated country in the world. Monaco has a land border of 5.47 km, a coastline of 3.83 km, and a width that varies between 1,700 and 349 m. The highest point in the country is a narrow pathway named Chemin des Révoires on the slopes of Mont Agel, in the Les Révoires Ward, which is 161 metres above sea level.

Since the beginning, Renaults have been distinguished from the rest of automobile production by their so-called "alligator" hood, the radiator being placed first on the sides, then behind the engine. The 1922 Motor Show saw the appearance of another new product, the Renault KJ. It allows the brand to reconnect with small models and to compete with Citroën in this area because, since the war, the range has included a 10 CV.

Ten years before, the 365 GTB4 “Berlina Boxer”, followed by the 512 BB had made their impact. But in 1984, Ferrari entrusted Pininfarina with the design of the all-new “Testarossa”, while retaining the architecture of the flat 12-cylinder engine. The rocker covers are painted in a vermiculated red color reminiscent of the famous name “Testarossa”, a symbol of the sporting successes of the 1950s. Nearly 400 hp, almost 300 km/h top speed, a breathtaking line, it seduces since its presentation at the Paris Motor Show in 1984.
