The Simple Chef®, Chef DonClark PopUp at Cholo's Record Shop on 511 East 148th St., The Bronx surprised the locals who were happy to see the Emmy Award Winning WNBC Reporter turned Product Designer: Tostobueno, The Ultimate Tostonera® turned Chef whip up a storm of plantain yummy-ness in their own backyard.
Nine year old Samuel had seconds . . . or maybe even thirds of a toston cup topped with “just whipped cream, please.” His mom who reminded us that in her native Colombia the plantains, fried are called PATACONES, was at a loss for words as her taste buds were introduced to the ying/yang of the salty plantain platform topped with cherries and whipped cream.
“DELICIOSO” was all she kept repeating, “DELICIOSO!”
He also treated them to plantain cups stuffed with pernil. He made fans of all those who stopped by. If anyone in The Bronx would like their very own plantain smasher stop by Cholo's Record Shop.
