They made a beach, with palm trees and deck chairs, out of nothing - in the middle of Newcastle. Nice!

My favorite flowers :-)
Shot with the pop-up flash of the Canon 500D, bounced to the left-hand wall ... (I used a piece of tinfoil to guide the light).
With cubes cut out of the paper and the rest of the paper used, one can make small origamic architecture scenes on opposite side of the cube. Of course, rectangles could be used instead of squares for the sides.

These are the first four pop-up structures from Carol Barton's book "the Pocket Paper Engineer." They're shown at various points in their painting, but we have the step pyramid, the free-standing platte, the weird table, and the cube. All were produced in my home "Design Lab" as prep for the summer school class I'll be teaching on pop-up books. In the meantime, I seem to be experimenting with yellow and purple, a common pair of contrasting colors in the western mystical traditions.
