Within each mining rush there is typically a transition through progressively higher capital expenditures, larger organizations, and more specialized knowledge. They may also progress from high-unit value to lower unit value minerals (from gold to silver to base metals).
A rush typically begins with the discovery of placer gold made by an individual. At first the gold may be washed from the sand and gravel by individual miners with little training, using a gold pan or similar simple instrument. Once it is clear that the volume of gold-bearing sediment is larger than a few cubic metres, the placer miners will build rockers or sluice boxes, with which a small group can wash gold from the sediment many times faster than using gold pans.
LOCATIONS and times--what is it in me that
meets
them all, whenever
and wherever, and makes me at home?
Forms, colors, densities, odors--what is it in
me that corresponds
with them?

A protestor is sliding down from a rope during the Siege Of PolyU during the 2019-20 Hong Kong protests.
The siege of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, also known as the Siege of PolyU was a stand-off between Hong Kong protestors and the Hong Kong police force, it was part of the 2019-20 Hong Kong protests and it took place on the campus of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). It was also part of the Hong Kong universities sieges, alltrough PolyU was the most famous or infamous.
It all started when protestors were setting up roadblocks at the entrance of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel which was close to the university and decided to use the university as a base of operation to defend it against the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) as a result of the conflict at Chinese University of Hong Kong a couple of days earlier, many of the protestors from there also went to PolyU. Attempts of citizens to remove the roadblocks were met with hostilities of the protestors. The HKPF used water cannons containing blue-coloured water that is mixed with chemicals that irritates the skin and shot tear gas. The protestors responded with petrol bombs and throwing bricks. The Police in result blocked different campus exits and forbade protestors from leaving, attempts of breaking into the campus by the Police by driving an armored vehicle into the campus resulted into petrol bombs being thrown at the vehicle resulting that the vehicle, retreating. Police also arrested first-aiders, medical workers and reporters inside the campus.
Attempts of evacuation by the protestors were dubbed ‘’Operation Dunkirk’’ and ‘’Operation Dynamo’’ After the evacuation of Dunkirk, however various protestors factions were divided whenever they should leave PolyU or stay. After roughly 50 students were trying to from the exit via the Y-core on the promise that if they leave peacefully no harm was done by the police, but they were arrested including medical workers and reporters inside the campus. Several attempts were made by the people who wanted to get out. It happened in various phases, some tried to use the footbridge to escape by gliding down to the road by cable beneath the bridge where various motorcycles were waiting them up, some of them were arrested by the Police, others tried to break through by running in large groups, they were also arrested. Others tried to leave at the dead of night in small groups, some managed to escape, but given the lack of coverage it is unknown if this method was successful. Others tried to use the sewer system to escape. Some protestors tried to liberate the people from PolyU from the outside by trying to distract the police by starting protests on the other side of the city or trying to force their way into the campus as blocking the Police as well, parents of trapped students were also present, demanding answers of their fate of their children.
After almost 2 weeks the siege was over as after dwindling numbers of protestors at PolyU, the Police decided to enter the university arresting anyone who remained there. The police there discovered a bomb factory where more than 4000 petrol bombs and other makeshift bombs, roughly 1100 people were arrested over the course of the siege.
The siege of PolyU was mentioned in an animation of mine about the Hong Kong protests:

Excerpt from Wikipedia: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU or HKPU) is a public university located in Hung Hom, Hong Kong. The history of PolyU can be traced back to 1937, and it assumed full university status in 1994. It is one of the funded institutions of the territory's University Grants Committee (UGC).

The Government Trade School was founded in 1937. Situated at Wood Road, Wan Chai, the school was the first publicly funded, post-secondary technical institution in Hong Kong. After World War II the school became the Hong Kong Technical College, and in 1957 opened new premises in Hung Hom.
In 1972 The Hong Kong Polytechnic was formally established. Its mandate was to provide professionally oriented education to meet the need for qualified staff. It gained approval from the University and Polytechnic Grants Committee for self-accreditation of degree programmes on 25 November 1994, assuming full university status and changing its name to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
O ME, man of slack faith so long!
Standing aloof—denying portions so long;
Only aware to-day of compact, all-diffused truth;
Discovering to-day there is no lie, or form of lie, and can be none, but grows as inevitably upon itself as the truth does upon itself,
Or as any law of the earth, or any natural production of the earth does. 5
(This is curious, and may not be realized immediately—But it must be realized;
I feel in myself that I represent falsehoods equally with the rest,
And that the universe does.)
Where has fail’d a perfect return, indifferent of lies or the truth?
Is it upon the ground, or in water or fire? or in the spirit of man? or in the meat and blood? 10
Meditating among liars, and retreating sternly into myself, I see that there are really no liars or lies after all,
And that nothing fails its perfect return—And that what are called lies are perfect returns,
And that each thing exactly represents itself, and what has preceded it,
And that the truth includes all, and is compact, just as much as space is compact,
And that there is no flaw or vacuum in the amount of the truth—but that all is truth without exception; 15
And henceforth I will go celebrate anything I see or am,
And sing and laugh, and deny nothing.

Taijitu. For the symbolic meaning of the "supreme ultimate diagrams" in earlier Chinese philosophy and Taoism. It is the universal symbol of the religion known as Taoism and is also often used by non-Taoists to represent the concept of opposites existing in harmony.

Void Pirate WM - 01 Inferno
Based on a prototype design the Inferno packs a variety of updated technology to increase the performance of any Void Pirate mecha pilot. Lt. Viper can often be seen teaching new recruits and although despised by some is respected by most. If you see this coming for you on the battlefield it's already too late...
Design:
The Inferno is a complete redesign of the Widowmaker mecha I created a very long while ago. Now using Stud.io instead of LDD, the MoC is completly buildable, stable, newer elements, posable and contains parts that exist. The centre torso is completly new as is the weapons (MML still modified).
Very much inspired by Armored Core, a game I loved growing up and still play from time to time.

Designed by Kisho Kurokawa, the Nakagin Capsule Tower was built between 1970 and 1972. Each of these little concrete 'boxes' is a fully self-contained unit, equipped with bed, tv/radio console, bathroom, and closet. (See more info on the construction).
