After the media hyped it up, saying there was 30-1000 ?!? meteors per hour, we made a trip down south to scope it out. The fog and low cloud got the best of us and we got covered from our location, but there wasn't much star gazing. Though the clouds was interesting!

Two worlds clash. As one of the most crowded surfer spots on Bali, Kuta beach has become an example of mass tourism. Along with this, mass pollution affects the beaches. Amidst the surfers and garbage, the incense and flowers as prayer to the gods form a painful contrast. On one side an land of ancient tradition and on the other side, a land in the eyes of worldexplorers, a place to have fun.

The Milky Way arching over the scenic bend of the Red Deer River, Alberta, from the Orkney Viewpoint overlooking the Badlands and river valley, in a 300° panorama. To the north at left, a weak aurora shines along the horizon. Bands of airglow also colour the sky to the east at centre.
To the south at right of centre, the Milky Way becomes lost amid the light pollution from Drumheller, Alberta, made more obvious by some clouds drifting through.
One of my cameras is at right, shooting a time-lapse sequence.
A bright Iridium satellite flare is at right, caught one of the panorama frames. Jupiter is at far right.
And of course, I like the way the curve of the Milky Way is mirrored in the curve of the river, which is why I picked this spot and this night in spring, when the Milky Way is still arching across the east and not overhead as it is later in summer.

Poison Ivy values plants above anything else. She would do anything to protect them: in fact she is constantly at war with pollution and she doesn’t mean it in the figurative sense.
She recently found a barren place, polluted by the evil schemes of the First Order (more likely as result of some Kylo’s tantrum if you ask me) and she decided to bring the local vegetation back to life.
The plants are growing nicely and Ivy is checking their well-being when she spots a terrible danger.
Jar Jar Binks is coming!
The Clumsy Creature is far more calamitous than any pollution. He is a form of pollution himself and a one of the utmost harmful kind.
Ivy knows it and she won’t allow Jar Jar to harm her beloved plants.
Before the Clumsy Creature can say “Heyo! Greensa redhead lady! Mesa here!”, Ivy “summons” a vine to greet him.
Ivy knows she can’t kill him. Jar Jar’s plot armor is too powerful but at least she can teach him a lesson.
“Stay away from my plants! You, disgusting thing!” She yells at him as the vines entrap him.
The Clumsy Creature will back to action soon but for today Ivy’s plants are safe.
After taking an outdoor photo of my Poison Ivy action figure (you can find it here if you are curious: www.flickr.com/photos/133750589@N08/26086610844/in/photos... ) I thought it would be cool to make Ivy starring in a Jar Jar Lego parody :)

The plastic in the tree appeared after high wind in the spring. As time goes the plastic disintegrates and enters the food chain a bit like plastic in the sea. It is a real problem that this example shows so clearly. My message is deal with your plastic so it does not crumbles like this and eventually harm us all, both animals and humans.

Would you ever want to see a really dark sky ?
A natural night sky that is not affected by artificial lighting unfortunately no longer exists in Slovakia. In terms of light pollution, the darkest place is in the Poloniny National Park on the border with Poland and Ukraine, where a dark sky park has been created. In the national park there are various forests and endless forests, which are home to wolves, bears and here and there, as in the only place in Slovakia, you can see a wild bison. If you want to enjoy the view of the night sky in comfort, there is an astronomical observatory called "Observatory on the Kolonica saddle" with the second largest telescope in Slovakia just before the entrance to the national park, in the village of Kolonica.

Two days before the Summer solstice, the nights are really short in Brittany. Actually, the astronomical twilight never ends. In this panorama, the sky is still bluish and is fusing with the orange hues of the light pollution. Despite all this light, the Milky Way is well visible and seems to emerge from the guardhouse of Meneham.
Light pollution is excessive, misdirected, or obtrusive artificial (usually outdoor) light. Too much light pollution has consequences: it washes out starlight in the night sky, interferes with astronomical research, disrupts ecosystems, has adverse health effects and wastes energy.
There are three main types of light pollution include glare, light trespass and skyglow (in addition to over-illumination and clutter). Glare from unshielded lighting is a public-health hazard—especially the older you become. Glare light scattering in the eye causes loss of contrast, sometimes blinds you temporarily and leads to unsafe driving conditions, for instance. Light trespass occurs when unwanted light enters one’s property, for example, by shining unwanted light into a bedroom window of a person trying to sleep. Skyglow refers to the glow effect that can be seen over populated areas. Skyglow is the combination of all the reflected light and upward-directed (unshielded) light escaping up into the sky (and for the most part, unused).
