A complex region of glowing HII ions, dark nebulae, open clusters and reflection nebulae in Monoceros. My favourite part is the Cone nebula which is easy to spot.

Light pollution :( Don't you love it! First attempt at Milky Way with a super-wide angle zoom lens. It wasn't that long ago I'd never think to shoot Milky Way at F4, must less using a zoom lens.
A heavily rusted valve (?) on a disused jetty on the River Thames. There is a LOT of casually discarded stuff on the river, much of it in disused structures left to rot and collapse into the water. The Thames discharges into the sea so I daresay it's 'diluted' but just as there's a lot of sea, there's a lot of rust ! Probably not good for us (living things generally) at all.

These refineries knock out tons of pollutants into the atmosphere every day and yet we can't do without them until we come up with something better.

The pollution in Zhengzhou seemed to be much worse than Shenyang. Very thick haze everyday for the 1 week I was there.
Poison Ivy values plants above anything else. She would do anything to protect them: in fact she is constantly at war with pollution and she doesn’t mean it in the figurative sense.
She recently found a barren place, polluted by the evil schemes of the First Order (more likely as result of some Kylo’s tantrum if you ask me) and she decided to bring the local vegetation back to life.
The plants are growing nicely and Ivy is checking their well-being when she spots a terrible danger.
Jar Jar Binks is coming!
The Clumsy Creature is far more calamitous than any pollution. He is a form of pollution himself and a one of the utmost harmful kind.
Ivy knows it and she won’t allow Jar Jar to harm her beloved plants.
Before the Clumsy Creature can say “Heyo! Greensa redhead lady! Mesa here!”, Ivy “summons” a vine to greet him.
Ivy knows she can’t kill him. Jar Jar’s plot armor is too powerful but at least she can teach him a lesson.
“Stay away from my plants! You, disgusting thing!” She yells at him as the vines entrap him.
The Clumsy Creature will back to action soon but for today Ivy’s plants are safe.

This picture was taken at midnight in Mendocino County, about halfway between Boonville and Point Arena. The location is 55 miles (90 km) away from Santa Rosa, 100 miles (160 km) away from San Francisco and Oakland, and 110 miles (180 km) away from Sacramento, but the sky above those cities glows so bright that it makes the Milky Way difficult to see and noticeably lights up the landscape even here.
The amount and far reach of the light produced by modern cities is astonishing, considering the amount of electrical power required to illuminate the landscape and the sky within a radius of more than a hundred miles. Until recently certain lens filters were able to reduce the visibility of the sky glow in nighttime photos, but when cities switched street lighting from sodium vapor lamps to LEDs those filters stopped working.

At first I was just going to shoot a silhouette of the lookout platform & decorative fence in the foreground with the Milky Way in the background. Then I realized that one of the interpretive signs here begins with "A Window into Deep Space". So then I decided to shoot a vertical frame that emphasizes this sign in the foreground. This sign gives some brief history and information regarding the famous Palomar Observatory nearby.
This is a blended shot - I did separate exposures for the sky and background. Unlike what some people do with composites, however, everything here appears the way it really did: the alignment of the Milky Way, the bright light pollution near the horizon, and the layered pattern in the sky due to the marine layer on the coast in the distance. Foreground exposure is 120 sec f/10 ISO 400 and the sky was a tracked exposure shot at 190 f/4 ISO 400. Shot on August 26, 2019.
Palomar Mountain (Spanish: Monte Palomar) is a mountain ridge in the Peninsular Ranges in northern San Diego County. It is famous as the location of the Palomar Observatory and Hale Telescope, and known for the Palomar Mountain State Park.
The name "Palomar" is Spanish for "Dovecote" or "pigeon roost". This comes from the Spanish colonial era in Alta California when Palomar Mountain was known as the home of band-tailed pigeons.

As the smoke from the bushfires in Australia circle the world, Melbourne is blanketed in smoke again. This was taken on the day Melbourne's air quality was the worst city in the world. But that smoke, ash and other debris had dropped stuff on NZ glaciers, Peru and was coming around back to us, being tracked by NASA all the way. www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2020/nasa-animates-world-pat...
This shot is taken from one of the "green corridors" used to bring power into Melbourne from the La Trobe Valley. The area has mini farms and here is being used by a horse riding business. Lake Lysterfield, a popular mountain biking and horse riding area is nearby.
In another form the electricity used by Melbourne comes from long buried fossilised trees and burned in our polluting coal fired power stations in the La Trobe Valley. To continue to put dirty coal emissions into the atmosphere without a transition plan is madness but that is what Australia's non-existent energy/climate policy is doing.
I pity the communities still fighting fires or trying to clean up the devastation wrought. 10/100
