DAG VAG 1979:
You have to learn how to see in the dark
Otherwise you stumble and break your neck
Though it was in the middle of the day and in the middle
of the street
Like it came the quick attack
Wherever you just saw just cops and cops
Who looked too much on the telly
Up against the car and the arms on the roof
There I stood and my brother he was there
on with the handcuffs and into the car
Quick ride through the city's noise
Sitting there staring and feeling stupid
Then we arrived to custody
In to a cell there I had to strip
Nothing left on me
There I had to sit for myself and contemplate
And wait for interrogation for five Days . . .
One of the 142 former Police Boxes in Edinburgh.
Most, if not all have been sold off and have new uses as coffee bars or tour guide stations.
The Police Box Network dates from 1932 and this is evidenced by the fact that most have sinks installed with the date embedded in them. Most were designed by City Architect Ebenezer MacRae and manufactured by Carron Ironworks of Falkirk. The boxes used to have sirens on top and were used by officers to phone into the station, report and get further instructions. The aforementioned sink in each box served as an urinal, washing facility and a tap to provide refreshment.

This is the old police station in Bowral (I don't think its really manned anymore), & this is where British backpacker Paul Onions was taken to after he escaped a violent encounter with a man he hitched a ride with named "Bill" who threatened him with a gun & claimed it was a robbery. Paul managed to flee & stop a passing vehicle for a lift, where they took him here where he made a report of the criminal.
He later identified Ivan Milat as the man that attacked him, & was flown back to Australia to testify. Milat turned out to be Australia's worst serial killer.
I remember coming here on a school excursion when I was a kid, which would have been only a few years after Milat was caught.

Some facts: Louisiana is known as the incarceration capitol of the world. Black people, people of color, LGBTQ people, disabled people, and their communities are disproportionately targeted by police and more likely to end up in prison. Police today resemble a military more than ever before. Even though our communities are not warzones, they buy supplies and weapons from the US military and use military tactics and training. Prisons create more problems than they solve and do not address why crimes are committed.

Unit #196 belonging to the Elyria Police Department. 2009-2011 is equipped with a single halogen spotlight and a Whelen light bar. Very clean unit and should be in service for a long time. Driven by Officer Andrew Kubas, he loves the unit.
